if we have a thursday class and a friday class, then we should go to those classes starting on the 23rd and 24th right? that would make sense to me, but i just wanted to be sure...also, do you typically get actual assignments on you first days of each class, or is it typically just a run through of the course?

90% chance that you will get actual assignments.

I call those days Syllabus days, lol. It's a run through of what the class is about, the grading scale, etc. However, do not be surprised at all if the professor begins to lecture, because they will.

Yeah we had an assignment the first day of our lab class even though it lasted all of five minutes and the first day of my other class she told us to go out and buy the syllabus.

if my first class on thurs is a calc "review" do i go to that even though i have not attended the calc class

So do we just begin our schedule as if we had already done Monday-Wednesday and just begin on Thursday? What do we do?

yeah i'm wondering the same thing because i don't have any thursday classes

Yea, you would go to your Thursday and Friday scheduled classes. If you have no class on Thursday, then your first day is Friday.

thanks i just wanted to make sure

How often does the average UF student have class? (two classes averaging four hours per day for example)

classes on average are in 50min periods w/ 15min breaks (the rule can be broken if the class is a seminar or lab)

of classes depend on your schedule (some have 4-5 classes on one day and some only have one or even none)

How about if you have 5 classes per semester with as average a schedule as you can find?

Lets say more like 4 classes (~15 credits)

You can have 3 classes (MWF) and 1 class (TR w/ a 2 period block on one of those days).

Some classes meet MTWR, MWR, and variety of the sorts.

I understand they all require a substantial amount of work but the amount of time spent in class seems pretty lax. Does it feel this way at first?

The amount of lecture time isn't bad. You'll be surprised on the amount of the free time you will have in college.
