Classes that fill up quickly

since i have 10 units of priority enrollment, i was wondering which classes i should use them for
the classes im planning on taking are: physics 1A, chem 20b, chem 20l, and math32a
i heard that the labs fill up quickly so im going to sign up for that during my priority enrollment time
that leaves me one more class...any advice?
:)

20L for sure & 20B probably.

Out of season for Physics 1A and well Math 32A is up in the air. What do you think Boelter/Moldau?

Actually, it's inseason for physics 1A.

But you can't sign up for 20L without 20B, so you'll have to do that. Chem labs fill up so quick, you don't want to end up with a 630 to 930pm section.

But you can always first enroll in 20B, which will allow you to enroll in 20L, and then drop 20B and sign up for whatever second class you want with your priority

How is 20B difficult to get into? There are 3 lectures (235, 235, 350). That's about 800 for an enrollment cap ! Plus, there are people who are going to take 20BH (50).

20L is harder to get into though, since there's people who already took 20B previously, and people who meticulous investigate Bruinwalk have assumptions about Gould.

And moldau is right about the chem labs filling up fast . If you use your second pass, you'd be lucky to get a 6-9 or 8AM session.

is it really that hard to get the lab??? I have the last session to sign up with the 1st years so should I even bother to plan that class into my schedule since according to previous posts the chances of me getting the lab is very very slim...
also is it possible to take chem 20b during winter quarter then 20lab during spring? because im pretty sure all the engineers are trying to get that class because of the recommended schedule they gave us

It's really hard to get into lab! Yes it is! You can probably get a section on your first pass, although it might be a bad time.

Get it over with!

just try getting in. You can do the whole add 20B add 20L drop 20B then add Physics or math depending on what you feel has less spots this quarter.

yeah I think i'll either do that or do lab at another quarter... is spots for 20B hard to get?

I don't know what to sign up for first either...and I do the first 10 units tomorrow!

I'm taking chem 20b, 20l, physics 1b, math 32b........so I'll definitely do the lab, but I have one other class to do, any advice?

thanks

32B and 20L.

yeah boelter!

i hate how the units are funny, never get anything right unless you take a phys lab and two maths/science

I'll be done... with my undergrad labs next quarter! WEEE. (I'm not counting LS2/3/4 labs as labs).

20L (W07), 30AL (F07), 30BL(W08), 4AL (S07), 4BL (F07).

I also need some help. I'm aiming to take Math 32B (trying to get Rogawski), Physics 1B, Anthro 7, and History 1A. I've got a priority pass. As far as I know, Rogawski and Anthro 7 are popular courses. Any insight?

Don't use your priority on GE courses... especially if they're just run-of-the-mill frequently offered ones like Anthropology 7.

agreed.
you WILL get into anthro so don't worry about it. there's only a few GE classes that you should use priority on, such as poli sci 40.
sign up for what you think you should use priority on, then check once in a while to see how classes/discussions are filling up and adjust accordingly during first pass. keep in mind, during priority pass, the cap is half the enrollment cap. it's lifted as soon as first pass starts. can be a useful strategy.

...or any lower-division Poli Sci classes for that matter.

well seeing that Gould's lab is almost filled up and scerri's class is close to filling up I think I plan on signing up for math 31b and chem 20b with scerri... but now the question is when should I take chem 20l... does chem 20l offered during spring? because I think a lot of people take it because the 4 year plan engineers get but I don't think the spots will be quite so competitive after winter quarter... so if I don't take the lab should I take the "HSEAS GE course" as listed on the 4year plan that should be taken in the spring? and what should be taken in the spring for 1st year engineers?

What type of engineer are you, and have you looked at the curriculum planner (they have updated ones within the new course catalog's at 6424 Boelter)

im a civil engineer, i saw on the announcement it said this quarter I should take physics, math, chem20b and chem20l... spring I should take physics and physics lab, math and HSEAS approved GE...
