Classes that fulfill English for med schools?

The CalCareer page says that most R&C courses fulfill the English requirements that some med schools have. Are there any other courses besides R&C that fulfill this? (Besides English classes, of course.)

Bump. Please help. My phase II is coming up soon and I need to decide what to take.

The ones that are R1A and R1B fulfill English for medical schools.

That's precisely what I already know. I'm asking for anything outside of R&C courses.

I heard a vague response when a student asked an advisor this a year ago during a meeting, but the advisor said medical schools don't like the ones that aren't R&C. not so helpful :p. Is there any reason why you are avoiding R&C courses?

I'm not really avoiding them; I'm just sort of screwed right now because there are no R&C courses open at the time that fit my schedule so I was looking for an out. I could probably just take them later...but I don't really want to put it off, especially since I only have 10 units right now and I was planning on taking a R1A course to fill it.

does the course have to be R1a to fulfill the med requirement? Can it be r5a and r5b?

Well I guess as long as the R is there, which designates the class as Reading and Comprehension...the number that comes after doesn't really matter.

I believe it's Reading and Composition. Just take a class in Rhetoric department or something.

Do you really HAVE to fulfill the English requirement during your first semester.........?

No,some ppl wait till there last year to fulfill it. Its just easier to get it out of the way.

No, and many don't.

unlimitedx, you're sure either reading and comp work for med schools? I've heard the question so many times, but no good answer. Does any reputable source, such as a Berkeley website, support your answer?

You should probably just check the school you are applying to. Some med schools dont even care about english. Heres a site that may help.
