Hello,
Since the schedule is out, I was just wondering is it possible to eat near campus.

Like if you have class that ends at 1:50 pm,
and the next one starting at 3:00 pm,
you only have like an hour to eat lunch,
and from what I know, there are no places to eat near like franz hall or like the east side of the campus, where all the buildings are.

I mean you can go back to the residential places and eat there, but wouldnt we not have enough time to eat and come back?

so wrapping up, my questions are these.

is there anywhere to eat near the classes buildings? (like royce hall etc,)

if there is none, do we have to walk back up to eat?

is it possible to do this within an hour?

I remember there being a Taco Bell and some other stuff at Ackerman Union (? the building with the Bruin store) when I visited or you could walk to Westwood.

Yes, there are places to eat outside of the residential area --

Bombshelter (South Campus) - deli food, some asian, mexican too? Idk whatever...
around Dodd Hall and the Law School building (LuValle Commons) <-- sort've northeast campus ... snadiwhcs, burgers, fries, coffee (jimmy's), ....
Ackerman Union (Jamba Juice, Panda Express, Wetzels, Tsunami (sushi), ...) <-- between north & south campus ) )
Kerckhoff Hall (coffee, deli sandwiches) ... (right next to ackerman)
Northern Lights (closer to the heart of North Campus) .... mostly same stuff bombshelter has and some more but nothing special

Yes, it's deifnitely possibly to do this within an hour. Not only that, but ucla gives you pepsi-brand lunch bags for you to pack your lunch in the morning (counts as a meal swipe or as an addl one if you get breakfast and a sack lunch)

-- btw, your meal plan swipes only count at the specialty restraurants and dining hall commons on the hill (aka residential area) sorry but u cant use a swipe at jamba @ack =(

Yes, there is a Panda Express in Ackerman Union.
Yes, there is a Taco Bell in Ackerman Union.
The restaurants are in Ackerman Union. Ackerman Union is Bruin Plaza. Kerckhoff is the building next door to Ackerman. It has spires. It also has a coffeeshop.
There is a regular who sells kettle corn outside of Ackerman. It is good.
Usually, there are random clubs/organizations floating around Bruin Plaza selling ethnic food.

at the restaurants that accept swipes, is there some sort of menu that shows how many each item is? or is it just supposed to be memorized from experience

You can always do a sack lunch through the residential restaurants.

No on-campus eateries accept swipes, but they do accept money from your Bruincard. Obviously, there is a menu for these restaurants; who remembers a burger combo costs $4.54?

If you are referring to the Bruincafe, Rendezvous, Puzzles, etc. though, there is a menu that will tell you the cost of each item if you decide to pay through Easy Pay.

Generally, at the specialty restaurants, you get some sort of meal combo for one swipe. For instance, when you eat in the dining commons, you use a swipe for a buffet-style meal. At Bruin Caf

Do you not eat breakfast? Do you not make time for supper and dinner and your evening snack? Starve yourself for a few hours! Let the growling and rumblings of your enlarged and gluttonously-portioned stomach moan with the agony while you not so secretly enjoy its pain and torture with the knowledge that you are providing a sacrifice... a testament to your willpower and desire to secure a wonderful education... do it, I say. DO IT!

...and then try remaining sane throughout the quarter.

You can also get a lunch/dinner coupon from any of he front desks. They'll give you a coupon to use on campus worth $1.55 that you can use at any of the on-campus resturaunts.
