Classes to take as a freshman?please help :(

I'm a freshman (class of 2016) at Sixth majoring in Human Bio. I recently looked at the sixth college GEs and seems like there are a lot of Visual Arts, Theatre an dance classes i would have to take. I was wondering if i should take a visual arts class, a "theatre -dance" class and a linguistics class along with CAT. Can i do that? Can i get rid of all my lower division GEs during my freshmen year so its easier for me to adjust in because there will be less work to do or does UCSD require me to take classes like MATH, CHEM, PHYSICS during the fall quarter of my freshmen year? I am exempted from BILD 1,2,3 and MATH 20A, 20B. Please help I'm really confused. :)
Thank you

I would recommend taking at least the gen chem series freshmen year. Not because UCSD requires you to, but because it’s a prereq to the ochem series. Ochem is also a prereq for several other courses and so on, so starting too late can hurt in the long run.

Next, I don’t recommend getting rid of all your GEs freshmen year because there will inevitably be classes that you won’t be able to get into (long waitlists!). In those scenarios you need to take filler courses, and GEs are readily available backups.

Lastly, I think people tend to freak out and overestimate how difficult adjusting to freshmen year will be xD you can take a lighter load your first quarter - 3 or 4 classes, 1 or 2 GEs - and ease yourself into college life before planning the rest of your schedule.
