So I will be going to UCLA in the Fall as a Pre Biz Econ major and I'm wondering what classes to take. I know about Econ11,41 but what else should I take for the first quarter? I'm thinking about some Management class (mgmt 120A or B or 127) OR Econ electives. Oh and I will also minor in Accounting.

Please, if any of you is currently at UCLA or have friends who are biz-econ major, please let me know what classes are the easiest to take (either mgmt classes or econ electives classes). I highly appreciate your comments.

You can’t take any Econ electives since all require at least Econ 101 or 11 complete. So as far as electives go, you really don’t have any option.

Take Mgmt 120A or 122 as those two courses are critical in you admission to the Accounting Minor (you need a cumulative GPA of 3.0 for those two classes + overall gpa of 3.2). I don’t think Ravetch is teaching 120A the Fall quarter so I would get that out of my way if I were you.

Thank you very much for your help. I have another small question: who do you think I should take for Econ11 (Board or Mazzocco?) and Mgmt 120A (Litt or Berges? coz if I go with Litt, I have to waitlist, should I do that or just go with Berges?)

And is there anyway I can keep in touch with you outside this CC forum? Do you have FB or anything? I think I will need your help again in the future, are you also a biz-econ major at UCLA?

econ 11, 101 are not difficult. MGMT courses are far more difficult depending on the professor. Ravetch for example is far more challenging than any professor in the economics department here. If this is your first quarter at UCLA i do not recommend taking econ 11, and mgmt 120a at the same time due to the amount of group work required for accounting. Because you are a transfer student it is difficult for me to assess your knowledge base in accounting, so if you feel that it is strong then go for it, if it is not, then take mgmt 122 in fall along with econ 11 and 41. Take McDevitt for economics whenever possible.

I thought Biz econ at UCLA is all about econ and accounting? Does that mean that there is no need to take anaccounting minor?? And also I would love to know what’s ‘fun’ in the major? I know I’m completely lost, but couls someone help me out?? Please??
