So I'm currently a Jr. (honors student) and was wondering whether my sr. schedule would pop out to a admissions officer

Fall Term

Moot Court/Mock Trial
Spanish 7/8
World Classics
AP Govt./AP Economics
Medical Issues (Debate Oriented)
Weight Training
Symphony Orch (highest level in school out of 4 possible levels)

All classes are honors, and I'm interested in going into Political Sci. In addition for Sr. year I plan on participating on the Debate Team (Model U.N. and The FED challenge), Key Club International, and Student Govt.

I have a 3.35 gpa and was wondering whether or not if I should include Pre-Calc to my schedule although I'm horrible in math, having a 75% after 3 years of Math Honors.

A lot of colleges require four years of math, so you may want to take a fourth math course if you haven’t taken one already.

You have some interesting courses (I wish I could’ve had a symphony orchestra class at my HS). If you’re majoring in political science, that is a pretty decent course load.

If you major in economics, you will likely need a year of calculus, so you will need precalculus before that. Better to take precalculus in high school than as a remedial course in college.

If you major in political science, there may be a quantitative methods or statistics course (analyzing poll and election results and the like); having a stronger math background may help for such a course.

World classics is your senior level English course? Have you completed all three of the main sciences (biology, chemistry, physics)? Two or three years of other history or social studies?

thanks so far…

so far in h.s.

I’ve taken

3 years of math(algebra, geometry,trig)

Biology, chem, AP human geography

AP World (Two year course) and APUSH

Two years of core english and a year of journalism (featured in schools newspaprer for every issue)

spanish for three years and latin honors for one year

criminal law, law internship with the busiest district attourneys office in the country, and symphony orch

I go to one of the top 20 public schools in nyc

Not taking precalculus and/or physics may be considered an omission by the most selective colleges.

Check each college that you are interested in for any specific high school course requirements or recommendations.
