Hi everybody,
I have been recently accepted to the college and have signed up for an overnight on Janurary 23rd and I would like to sit in on some classes before my overnight.

Does anyone have recommendations of classes to sit in on?
I am really interested in chemistry, economics, sexuality studies but honestly I am willing to sit in on anything just to get the feel of the classroom setting.
(If possible I would like the class to start after 1 but it easily possilbe for me to be there before then to go to a class if it interests me)

if you have any suggestions would you mind providing its name, place, and time
THANKS

Take this for what you will, because not only have I never sat in a Chicago class, I am still hoping to be accepted, however, if I were to sit in on a class, I would want to sit in on one a core class, and probably a hum class.
I say a core class because you're more likely to take a core class your freshman year, and I say hum because that's what I'm interested in and I think you could go to an individual lecture and not be completely lost. that's just my gut reaction, and I'm sure somebody has something far wiser to say. ;)

If you're interested in economics, try sitting in on a Power, Identity, and Resistance core course. I would recommend Richard Westerman -- he was a funny, youngish guy, British I believe, who had a pretty dynamic way of engaging the students. And when I visited, they were studying Smith's Wealth of Nations (I think they study Marx's Capital, too?).

I've visited, like, nine or so classes at Chicago, so if you want any more recommendations... just ask. ha

I agree that you should sit in on a core humanities (HUMA) or core social sciences (SOSC) class. These classes are targeted towards underclassmen and they are a true cross-section of University students. They are discussion classes and they're required for all students, so you should make sure you like them before you sign up to attend!
