Classes vs Study time?

Hi guys I’m a junior now and I’m wondering how much studying time I should be spending on my classes: AP calc, AP euro, AP physics, APUSH2, gym, honors French 3

Ive only survived a month of school so here’s how I’ve been studying: 30% physics, 20% calc, 0% gym, 20% euro, 20% history, 10% French

Calc has gotten a little easier so I can reduce studying for that, physics is hard as hell, and HISTORY is the devil.
I honestly do all my homework, reading, memorizing but I failed my tests in both euro and APUSH2.

How do you guys think I should be managing my time?
Thanks!

It’s a horrible idea to double up in really any subject. Drop a history class.

What is APUSH2? I know APUSH is us history.,

@basedchem - The OP may really like history and/or be willing to work harder than is expected; I don’t see how doubling up is a terrible idea. I chose to double up on science classes both my junior and senior years, it’s really not a big deal.

@ac6803 - Time management depends on the amount of work your specific teachers assign. None of us know how those classes are taught at your school, so none of us can tell you how much time you should dedicate to particular subjects. In general, though, I’d recommend spending 30% of the total time you dedicate to X subject doing homework and 70% of the time actually studying (reading textbooks, reviewing notes, etc.). Adjust numbers to your specific circumstance.

AP calc, AP euro, AP physics, APUSH2, gym, honors French 3

It’s different with each school and class, because teachers might assign different assignments and reading.

I can’t tell you about AP Calc and AP Physics, but for the others . . .

AP Euro: This is different for everyone. In my case, after chapter 2, I didn’t read another page in the textbook and only relied on outlines of the textbook online. My teacher ONLY assigned reading regularly (most practice DBQs and FRQs were done in class), so I only spent an hour every other day (or every day, depending on how long the chapter was), rewriting the outline and reviewing it. If it were a test, I would study around 3 hours beforehand. I got a high A in both semesters and a 5 on the AP test. However, it’s different for everyone. USUALLY, most of my classmates took around 2-3 hours per reading assignment if they stuck with the textbook and notes.

APUSH: Same as AP Euro essentially. It depends on the teacher. My friends that has the other APUSH teacher at my school spends way more time than me because that teacher assigns question sand vocab everyday. Studying wise for the test, it depends on how much you need to feel confident. I spent around 2 hours the day before, and about 30 min every other day (after AP Euro, APUSH was a breeze for me).

Honors French 3: I can’t see how this would take you a long time, but if you’re struggling, just study all you want.

It’s not a matter of what amount of time you SHOULD be taking; it’s a matter of what you NEED. It seems you struggle in history, so dedicate more time towards history. APUSH really falls in line with AP Euro. Dedicate some hours to those classes everyday; take notes, highlight those notes, put sticky notes in the textbooks. You’re very brave to take two histories! Good luck!

@glasshours thanks for the advice, and yeah dropping a class is not an option for me at this point nor would I want to. I suppose I’m just going to have to study harder or find new methods. Thanks!

@luvskat thanks for the reply! alot of your advice should help me, i hope!

That all depends on you but how do you not have an english, isn’t that required by schools though?

@ac6803 You can’t get blood out of a stone. You are going to kill your GPA because of all the APs…which looks a lot worse than not having one. Its the law of diminishing returns - after the 6th AP, I’m already bored with your transcript. And you still have next year. Your GPA though, is unforgettable.

@lolkar oops I forgot to include AP English III

@suzyQ7 so what are you suggesting is my plan of action?
