classes

If, say hypothetically you took five courses in a semester. Would those classes only meet once a week? Or more? I want to find out if people have about one class a day or many (something like HS), on average.

Most classes meet for 3 hours/week. That can mean 3 times for one hour, two times for 1.5 hours, or once for 3 hours. It really varies. I've had semesters with only two (horrible) days of class, and others with all 5. Plus it depends on what school you're in or even on your major.

you'll be hard pressed to take only one class a day though (and still take 5). esp in freshman year.

yeah, one class a day is not really possible, especially with five classes.

However, having entire days off is possible. I have friends with Tuesdays off, some with Wednesdays, etc. Most Whartonites, including me, are able to work a schedule with Fridays off. I highly advise trying to get Fridays off. It's awesome.

if you're in CAS its really easy to get fridays off also.

For most people the classes all meet 2-3 days a week, adding up to the three hours. But classes with labs throw in another problem due to the extra time and wierd timing. I have classes four days a week, I'm taking 6 credits, 5 classes. I'm a bit different because i'm a soph. in Nursing and i have long "labs" but most of my classes this semester meet 2 days a week for an hour and a half plus a lab in some cases but they are either tues/thurs or mon/wed. I also have 2 that are 3 hours long once a week. There are lots of options but for the most partclasses meet 2-3 times a week, usually M/W/F or T/Th with some exceptions(like mine). You can work it to be more compact or spread out if you want but i personally pick classes and then see which ones fit together.
