Classes

If you are accepted to NW Eng, are you allowed to double major at Weinberg (Econ)...and maybe take classes at Music, Journalism, or Communication schools (for a minor or just to take classes for fun)?

If by NU Eng you mean english... that is in Weinberg, and you can always double major within Weinberg. MOST other classes are "open" to everyone (some have major/status/prerequisite requirements), but "open" is in quotes because a lot of the popular classes, or classes necessary for some majors, will fill up in preregistration, making it difficult to get into them if you don't have a reason to take it.

i think he meant engineering... i'm not sure about music or communications, but you can't minor in journalism (although you can take classes if you want)

Yeah. I meant NW McCormick Engineering...my bad. Should've clarified myself a bit better.

Would I be able to take classes just for fun? What classes would I be able to take to count for a minor? for a 2nd major?

Haha, that was obvious, sorry. I've found that engineers have less room in their schedules for fun electives and such, but that's just among my friends, I don't know much about the engineering curriculum (except that it's hard, and a double major might be too much work).

I'm just wondering whether it's possible or not. I need something to write in my Why NW essay. :D

Yes. In fact, engg+econ was very popular among students from Hong Kong when I was there. One of them did econ+comp engg+co-op certificate (coop 6 quarters) in 4 years. At one point, she told me she was taking 6 classes.

The quarter system allows you to squeeze many classes in one year. It's up to you to take on the challenge.
