Classes

I was wondering if the Air Force Academy offered any arts classes? I’ve been involved in many plays here at my high school and I was wondering if the academy offered any form of Acting class.

I was also wondering if it offered any piano classes. I’d like to continue my playing while at the academy.

I can't really say for sure since I am entering the class of 2011 as well but I am pretty sure they do. I believe I read something about the academy having a band. Even though the academy does focus on math, science and engineering I am sure there is still a desire for creative skills as well.

acting class, i don't think so. i did musicals myself since 6th grade. there is one club, called bluebards or omething like that, and they put on a play and a musicals once a year. i forget the play, but they are doing The Fantastiks right now. there are also choirs (for church) or chorale (usafa's choir-was in Macy' t-day parade this year) if you enjoy singing

There is a theater club.

I've seen a wide variety of clubs on the academy website but how many cadets actually have time to become involved in them? Is it likely that we'll have time? Should we wait to join any extracurricular activities until after the first couple semesters when we have our time management down?

A lot of people join clubs, 4 digs or not. I didn't just because I wanted to get ahead academically and GPA wise so I could later. But people have made time.

I do ski club which only takes up a Sunday every couple weeks which is perfect for me.

I need to keep my GPA up since I want to be an astronaut. I think you have the right idea hornetguy.

i encourage ppl to join at least one club. its a great way to meet ppl outside your squadron, as well as a great relief from the stresses of academic and training life. depending on how well you can manage your time, shoot for more if you want. i'm in several clubs and still have a good GPA. but don't overload yourself. just pick the two or three that are most important to you.
