Can anybody who has taken classes at UC Merced, tell me the difficulty of the classes? Especially for these classes:Chemistry, Biology, and Calculus?

Is it really difficult to get an A? What are the science department professors like? Is there a curve? And what is the class average for science classes?

I know that's a lot to ask, but I really appreciate any input I can get.

Yeah ill break it down for you.

To get an A in the classes you mentioned you must be on your gaurd 100% of the time. Biology was like a game to me, I tried to get the highest grade possible on every test/quiz we had. About 3/4 of the way through the class I relized that I would not even have the final for the class to get an A.

Chemistry will eat your soul if you allow it. Pop quizes are a bi-daily weekly event, and they will destroy your chances for an A. The happiest day of my life was getting a B in chem.

Calculus is hard or easy depeneding on your prior math skills. However, Ive seen many an asian who was a "math wiz" crumble under the difficuly tests in the class. Some luck is involved, but go to TA's and profs for help and you will be OK.

Averages:
Chem 2/5 of my class recieved a FAILING grade
Bio 1/4 of my class recieved a failing grade
Calc 2/3 of my class recieved a failing grade (I think there getting new profs for math)

as you can imagine A's in the above classes are reserved for about 4-7% of the class

Goddamn, it looks like I'm going to have to work my ass off.
