Hi all,

I'm a 24 year old transfer student who has been bouncing around different majors, traveling, studying massage and breathwork and Ayurveda, and am finally going back to school with firmer confidence about studying my passion - singing.

I've been debating about whether to study Classical or Jazz, and am thinking that while Jazz studies could help me master being in the moment, listening to what's around me and creating beautiful harmonies and rapturous chords (which I naturally have skill inas it is), I'm getting the sense that grounding my education in a Classical program will solidify my strength in projecting with full resonance. Any thoughts on this?

Also - since I've been bouncing around so much, I'd like to stay in the Bay Area for my Undergrad. My friends are all around me, I was born and raised here, and I love the life I've been cultivating in this area.

I'm strongly considering going to Grad school for Chinese Medicine, so a BM program would be ideal. I know there could be "the best" school for me somewhere out there, and all things considered, San Francisco State's BM program in Classical Vocal Performance has sounded the most aligned with what I want moving forward.

Has anyone gone, or known anyone who has gone through this or any other Music program at SFSU?

Any feedback would be helpful. This is the only school I've applied to for my transfer, so I'm hoping it'll provide me with a solid, awesome education.

Thanks!
B
