Classical Studies

This is, I believe, the first thread that will be dedicated solely to the study of classical CCist philosophy and art. I will be starting with the late Classical Era by creating a sort of Digest of AOM Sayings, sort of Confucianist style. Hopefully I can bring some Mencius style action. Of course, any other CCers are welcome to join in with any of their own projects.

Before we can really understand the concepts contained in these posts (I personally am more experienced when it comes to ArtOfMind_21, so that is my concentration for my own research), we must have some biographical information, and this is what I’ve compiled:

ArtOfMind21, born in either 1991 or 1992, will most likely graduate this year
ArtOfMind21 is a Korean-American living in Florida (assuming we can believe the posts that have been made) who was once obsessed with video games, much like his contemporary Invoyable. He had to persevere through a number of friend issues while in high school, making his posts somewhat negative in nature. Additionally, AOM’s work is characterized by succinctness and an innate ability to generalize in few words - a trait especially clear in his thread titles.

I will try to make this as chronological as possible.

One of AoM’s earliest threads was “Friend”.

The brief yet meaningful title is typical of AoM’s title-making aesthetic-

and so it began. The raw emotion in AoM’s threads set the stage for his future ascendence, as he became a sort of Byronic Hero, an

Even before “Friend”, AOM had begun his thread “Trying to prevail against impossible odds.”

The thread is a Ulyssean declaration of the power of man to overcome his own fate:

Little did he know, his perseverence would go on to inspire HSLers for years to come.

And perhaps the HSL community knew this. Though many would later consider his rapidfire posting to be “annoying,” he received support from his contemporaries in this early thread, nourishing his ability to capitalize on his seemingly ethereal posting genius

This thread is still here :)

Something tells me he was banned for this…
