Clean Official Boarding Decisions and Applicant Stats and ECs

This is a clean version of my previous thread - Post nothing but your filled-in table. No extra banter, no nothing. Just your stats. This is for the good of all of us but mostly for CC's crowd next year.

To find your WEIGHTED and UNWEIGHTED GPA, go to Staples High School--Info--GPA Calculator

Remember, to make the code below work, you must delete the spaces within the brackets. Otherwise it will just appear as it does immediately below. The second decision line is for if you had different decisions from schools such as waitlisting or rejection. If additional decision lines are not needed, delete them. If another is, simply copy and paste and change the color to red for rejections and blue for waitlists.

Make sure to preview your posts to make sure your code works!

This thread is a bit too ostentatious for me.

The fact of the matter is, these “stats” don’t mean much anymore. Two applicants could have nearly identical stats and each could have received different admission results.

Nor do they reveal an intangible, like how the interviewer perceived the applicant. Was the applicant a nice, genuine kid or not? Can’t tell with these stats.

Future applicants need only try their best in Middle School and the rest will take care of itself.

Hastalavista, I don’t know about you, but when I was first delving into the boarding school scene, I would have DROOLED over a board like this. Please respect the thread, and refrain from making unneccessary comments. (I recognize that posting this is a bit hypocritical, but whatever.) I will be posting my stats on here once I figure out Loomis Chaffee’s decision!

Subjective:

* Essays: I thought they were well written…

 • Teacher Recs: Most were excellent, one was okay from my French teacher who rushed it due to exam week.
 • Principle/Counselor Rec: Used a teacher instead. Public school of 1200 kids. They did not/could not write it.
 • Hook (if any): International, bi-racial

Location/Person:

* State or Country: Canada

Decision: Accepted at Exeter, Mercersburg, NMH, St. Pauls, Stevenson, Westtown
Decision: Waitlisted at Pomfret, St Andrew’s DE

Stats:[ul]
[] SSAT/ISEE/TOEFL/PSAT: SSAT Overall 83%

General Comments: First Choice was St Andrew’s, both my twin and I were WL there. I will probably choose either Mercersburg or SPS now, but want to go to revisits at Westtown and Exeter as well. My twin gets to choose between Westtown and Middlesex. Parents will have to look at FA packages too, before decisions are made. We each need about 20-25K in aid. I need sleep!

how do you do this format thing

elveedaily, I guess the “LOOK AT ME” generation marches on! Good luck.

I actually find this quite interesting.

whoops srry… i was copyin the codes in and i hit post instead of preview by accident. Sorry.

Benevolent - just copy the first post, then delete all of the spaces after the “[” (You need to do this on every line, every set of ) It took me a few tries to get it right too.

^^^^Please try and keep this thread clean with just the requested information. This was the second attempt at making a thread like this clutter-free.

The SSAT percentages seem to be off from poster to poster. Doesn’t really matter I guess at this point though it’s subjective.

**Decision: Accepted by Andover and Exeter! **
Decision: Rejected by my parents (not really)

Stats:[ul]
[] SSAT/ISEE/TOEFL/PSAT: 95% overall on SSAT
[] GPA Unweighted-Weighted: 3.95 or 96% or so, within a point of that
[] Rank: Top 20 of 120
[] Other stats:Not much other than EC stats, but not gonna post all those
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: I liked them alot, that’s all I know
[] Teacher Recs: The one that I saw said the nicest things anyone has ever said about me, except my parents and relatives.

[] Ethnicity: Jewish/Atheist if that counts
[] Gender: Male

General Comments: WOOOT

[ size=+1][ color=green][ b]Decision: Accepted- Peddie, Lawrenceville, and George School [ /b][ /color][ /size]

[ b]Stats: **[ list]
[ *] SSAT/ISEE/TOEFL/PSAT:99th percentil SSAT (98% M, 98% V, 98% R)
[ *] GPA Unweighted- 3.934-Weighted:4.266
[ *] Rank:unranked
[ *] Other stats: ECs
[ /list][ b]Subjective:[ /b][ list]
[ *] Essays: I really like writing and they showed my personality well.
[ *] Teacher Recs: I’m pretty sure they were amazing. Peddie put how great my recs were into the acceptance letter.
[ *] Principle/Counselor Rec: I had never really spoken to her before the app process since I am in class with 450 other kids and its not exactly closeknit, but once we started to talk I think she really liked me.
[ *] Hook (if any): Competitive Swimming
[ /list][ b]Location/Person:[ /b][ list]
[ *] State or Country: Pennsylvania
[ *] Current School Type: HUGE public school (one of the best in the area though)
[ *] Ethnicity: Caucasian
[ *] Gender:Female
[ /list][ b]Other Factors: I did really well on my interviews and talked to the swim coaches at all 3 schools.[ /b]
[ b]General Comments: I think I’m going to Peddie! They gave me a Potter Scholarship plus FA making it semi-affordable! It was my 1st choice to begin with (because if the swim team) so I’m really happy! I’m still considering the other two, though, and I haven’t gotten the letter with Lawrenceville’s letter w/ FA yet, just the online decision.[ /b]

oh. it looks wierd. oops, i am technologically troubled. i’l just leave the format like that, i guess.

Decision: Accepted at Choate, Exeter, and NMH with full FA.
Decision: Waitlisted at Andover.

Stats:[ul]
[] SSAT: 98% Reading, 85% Math, 99% Verbal 99% Overall
[] GPA Unweighted: 98.4 – 3.93
[] Rank: N/A
[] Other stats: Applied for 10th grade, and for full FA.
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: Great, personal, well-written. Reviewed for grammatical errors, etc.
[] Teacher Recs: Wonderful. Teachers have known me for 3+ years, in many settings.
[] Principle/Counselor Rec: Good, at least. Guidance didn’t know me as well, recruited a past teacher for help.
[] Hook (if any): Volleyball recruit at Choate and Andover (sent highlight video). Art/Music at Exeter (no portfolio/recordings).
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: New York
[] Current School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: Caucasian- White
[] Gender: Female
[/ul]Other Factors: I was a 2-season athlete, instrumental musician (oboe), and a 4-year theater participant.

General Comments: I stayed in pretty much constant contact with the Choate volleyball coach from September on. My interviews at all the schools were very pleasant and personable, with well-prepared but non-rehearsed responses. I worked very hard on my essays and short answers, and my teacher recommendations were very kind.
I applied for full FA and as a 10th grader, and expected this to get me messed up on M10th, but instead got GREAT news!

Bump. For the good of next year’s CC crowd!
