<p>I work for the Humane Society here in Ann Arbor, primarily with pit bulls since I think we’re the only shelter in the area that accepts them so we get a lot. I just don’t understand people’s attitude toward dogs. The pits I work with are fantastic animals and they are my favorite breed to work with, but when they come out of fighting rings they are so messed up it is almost impossible to rehabilitate them. In Michigan recently we had like 50 people arrested for dog fighting and they all ended up getting off because the police arrested them and then forgot to arraign them within 48 hours, or some sort of stupid mistake like that. So many people have a totally flippant attitude about it and they should really spend a day in my shoes and witness the damage being done for themselves. </p>
<p>Then there’s the 5 month old australian shepherd the guy beat with a tire iron because he was ****ed at his girlfriend. In case anyone in the Ann Arbor area saw that story on the news, Brownie has had surgery and got to keep both of her legs and her foster family has already chosen to adopt her. My shelter is the one that was taking care of her.</p>
