Clemson Admission - Coalition App ?

We were told numerous times, by Clemson, that their application is very simple and no essays required. They said to just apply on their website and to do it sooner than later. My son applied last week using the link via the Clemson website.

He is in the middle of completing his coalition application and “per his friends at school” - they said that he can no longer apply to Clemson using the coalition app. Now I am confused ?? I thought he applied on the website and then submitted the coalition app to supplement the other one. Would it have been more beneficial to apply to Clemson via the coalition app vs the one on their website ? Did I just decrease his chances of getting in ?

UGH !

No. Clemson admissions looks at GPA, test scores, rank and rigor . The benefit of the coalition app is he wouldn’t have had to complete the Clemson app if he used the coalition app for other schools. You did not affect his chances at all IMO.

I have called Clemson admissions a couple of times asking them if they prefer either the coalition or regular clemson app. They say, as they state on their website, that it doesn’t matter and they will take both (typical answer as there must be a reason they have both. I assume they might be transitioning into a strictly coalition app process in the future). However, the transcript process is kinda confusing for the coalition app for clemson because I believe they want it to be sent via parchment as well as through the coalition app. I would call admissions about the transcript process to double check. But otherwise, both options are easy and simple and applying via coalition won’t hurt his chances at all.

My son did the same thing the other day…submitted his app via the Clemson site and not using the Coalition. I assumed it was all that needed to be done, except for the SAT scores and official transcript being sent by his school. At least he got an email saying that they recieved the application. Did your son get one?

Yes he did get an email confirmation. Just waiting on his high school to send transcripts. Thank you and good luck to your son

@Chris1229 and @Drewbiemom my son applied in August as well. We just came back from our first Clemson football game last weekend (amazing!!) and I stopped by admissions too. They said you will get an update via e-mail if anything else is needed and when the application is complete. We sent the on-line application and then his counselor sent the transcript and we had the college board send his SAT directly. Although he is taking it one more time in October. Are you both from SC? We are in NJ. My son chose his first choice as Business and second Economics. Whatabout yours?

How long did it take for Clemson to send you an email of confirmation? My daughter sent her application in 4 days ago and has not heard from them. She used the coalition app. Can’t figure out if there is a way to check and see if her ACT scores and transcripts were received yet.

1 Wk after my s applied ( Sept 1) got an email stating missing transcripts then repeat email again 1 mos later (gc never sent ) Then days before gc sent transcripts got email stating applic incomplete. It Says to contact them thru Virtual Advisor for questions which we did twice and still haven’t heard back from them. I will email or call them next Wk
