Mail came… deferred to January 2019.
Well I guess good for Clemson to be able to be pickier than ever. DS didn’t make the cut ( business major, OOS) and looks like some variance in who was accepted and who was not. Never know what they saw on someone’s app that stood out. As for waitlist, my neice was one who accepted off the waitlist. She was offered May 1. Had to keep submitting grades along the way I think (maybe after 3rd Q came out?). We are moving on…best to everyone. I may keep trolling here just to see where others who aren’t going Clemson end up picking.
@mweb136 congrats to you too! Morris county here.
@x2018x same boat here… luckily S18 accepted at other schools. Next basket of eggs is OSU, applied late so hopefully that will come through. Best of luck to you!
My daughter was waitlisted also. I doubt she will want to wait - especially when other commitments need to be made by May 1. She is pretty surprised and disappointed. Good luck to everyone else!
beach 1234 my son was accepted to Clemson but rejected from University of FL. We are in SC and he had a 1430 on SAT. Top 30% in class. 4.1 weighted GPA. He was hoping for UF. Congratulations on UF and Ohio. Both are great schools!
My son got into business school but no merit scholarship.
I was the one accepted with the 1180 SAT and I’m 25/440 (top 6%). I’ve taken AP US History, AP government, and currently in AP microeconomics. Weighted GPA: 4.695 UW: 3.818. Also, I only take my core classes at an honors level or higher (except for pre-cal, probs and stats because i didn’t want to take AP, and forensics, because they only offered cp.) I’m student body secretary, in BETA club (I competed at state and national convention), french national honor society, and senior board. Not anything extraordinary, I’m thinking it’s just because I’ve been consistently taking higher level classes since middle school?? I also didn’t try to get into any of their big programs.
Still hard to believe. Congrats to you. My S had Varsity Lacrosse, lots of awards, NHS, 1350, 4.4, all Honors and AP classes (6 APs total). There’s something very wrong with this, but he’s fine and very happy to have excellent choices.
Admitted for General Engineering at Clemson! OOS, 4.2W, 1440 SAT. Good luck to everyone!
D was denied. 29 ACT. Visited twice. 3.6 GPA. 4 APs.
DD accepted today with 4.3 W, 3.5 UW, 29 ACT, Top 15%, IN state, GENETICS major
BTW, from what I’ve heard, Clemson couldn’t care less about ECAs. (GPA, class rank, test score is all!)
DS accepted. 1200 SAT. 5.1W, 4.0 UW. 8 dual enrollment. Top 5% Business. SC resident
@nuggetsforlife congratulations. What state are you from?
@burghdad South Carolina, but thank you!
I think it’s safe to say that no one really knows what admissions is looking for. D got accepted OOS with average SAT scores. Decent GPA but goes to competitive HS so rank is probably somewhere in the middle. I’m not sure what it was that got her in. Another school told accepted students that they no longer go by sat/act because with tutoring everyone has great scores. They said they go by ECs and essay. That was just one school but it seems to be a trend.
My D received her acceptance today! Nursing!!!
Daughter accepted OOS engineering.
culpepper308 congrats!! Would you mind sharing your stats? Awaiting decision for nursing in C’ville.
@dochoo - going to try my best here. admittedly, my D did all the application work so i only have surface knowledge of the details. ACT 30 GPA 4.25, various curriculum activities, tons of volunteering etc… -culpepper va
good luck to all!
Hi!! First off- this is my second go around… feels like yesterday I was waiting to hear from my sons top college, definitely nail biting! I know the feeling from everyone. My daughter got her acceptance today into the engineering program. We live in Va. she’s been on AP classes all 4 years, SAT 1300, weighted GPA 4.45. Math is her best subject too. So she did well on the SAT. Best of luck to all our kids!! This journey doesn’t come easy and all of kids work so hard!
