Clemson Admissions - Class of 2023 DISCUSSION

Hi all. SUPER nervous, control freak, Mom of triplets who are DYING to go to Clemson next year. We are OOS. Can anyone offer me hope for students who are in the 1200-1300 SAT range coming from excellent high schools, 3.25-3.76 GPAs? No ranks provided. We visited from PA - twice. Have kept in touch via e-mail. Are going to see rep at College Fair. Applied on Aug. 1st. I’ve done everything I can think of short of moving to SC to increase their chances of admissions. I could REALLY use some encouraging news. I feel like my kids are the only ones applying to Clemson who don’t have a GPA above 4.0 and SATs in the 1400’s. :frowning:

I would try to find other schools they also really like so they are not disappointed if one or more are not accepted. Maybe finances are not an issue but it is a state school with little in the way of aid outside of merit and that is a questionable. You need a backip plan.

Clemson admissions are based on stats. GPA, test scores, rank and rigor. Are those weighted or unweighted GPAs?

@4n2yrs I too am applying for Clemson class of 2023. Clemson has been my dream school for many years now. It wasn’t until recently that I realized whatever happens is meant to be. With Clemson admissions becoming so competitive, there’s only so much as an applicant that is in your power at this point. It seems like you have done everything in your power to give your kids the best shot they can get. I too struggle with trying not to worry about whether I get into Clemson because I like it so much. That being said, however, no matter where your kids ultimately go to school they will have a good time. I’ve started to adopt this mindset and encourage you push this on your kids as well. Good luck to your family, I’m really hoping we can all become Tiger Town Bound!

My daughter applied to the RN program at Clemson on 8/2. Transcripts were not sent out until 9/11. We are OOS from PA. Daughters stats are:
Weighted GPA: 98.45
Unweighted: 94.91
Rank: top 10%
AP Courses: 4 and taking 4 this year
Major: Nursing
ACT:29
Has been accepted to WVU direct nursing program on 9/10/18

@summerdayz I would have her retake the ACT as nursing is very very competitive I think only like 85 spots per year. As an out of stater I would think she would need to have something with a 3 in front of it.

I agree with above . D is a senior nursing student . When she applied 4 yrs ago she was told to shoot for well over a 30 esp coming from OOS . Nursing and engineering are supposedly two of the hardest majors to be admitted to . They get a lot of applications and there are a lot of instate students who apply …can’t hurt to take the test again! Admissions as a whole has become very, very competitive the last few years .

Clemson is not her #1 pick. WVU, Penn State, and JMU are her top picks. Clemson is her reach school. We applied Early Action and are grateful she was accepted to one of her top 3 choices. She applied to 7 schools total. We will see what happens with her above stats. I’ll keep you posted. Good luck to everyone:)

WVU
Penn State Univ
JMU
Clemson
Univ of Delaware
West Chester Univ
Bloomsburg

^^ Good luck @summerdayz , those are all great choices . D had some of those on her list too. I have another d with a BSN who also had some of those on her list. It’s great that she applied early and already has an early acceptance!! Best wishes !

Thanks so much

Has anyone received acceptances yet? Last year I think a few went out around this time.

I have not received anything yet. OOS and hoping for a scholarship. Yes, people posted on this site last year starting 11/10. Fingers crossed!

My daughter has not heard yet either. We are OOS and a lot of people from our high school (NC) heard about this time last year. We are waiting!

No responses here. Please post when everyone hears. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!

Someone heard today. I am in NJ.

We are in Charlotte, NC - my daughter received the “Tigertown Bound” envelope today.

@feenicks, congrats!!! That’s great news for your daughter. Do you mind sharing stats and when was “Tigertown Bound” envelope postmarked? Congrats again.

@PAtoSC thanks! OOS, ACT 35, WGPA 4.58, UW 4.00, Homeschooled, Junior & Senior year all A/Ps or Dual Enrollment. I’m not at home so I am not sure of the postmark date but will share when I see it. Good luck to everyone!

There is no postmark date on the envelope. Inside letter is dated 11/1. DS letter specifies that an academic scholarship is being offered with notification in February for the actual amount. Last year, scholarship amounts were provided with the acceptance.

Son received his “Tiger Bound” envelope in the mail today! Have to wait until February for the actual scholarship amount.
