Clemson Application and Timing

My daughter just came back from her second visit to Clemson. She attended Spring Blitz for juniors. We also attended an info session in January and first toured the school. During Spring Blitz we attended the Business info session and had an appointment to tour the Graphics Communications dept.

In January, the admissions counselor suggested filling out the application early and being ready to hit send soon after it officially opens August 1.

I called today to clarify that point, but the person who took the call didn’t sound very sure of that but also didn’t sound like I was speaking with a counselor but more someone answering the phone. I was trying to determine if you could open the application now or at what point it was safe to begin working on it to indeed be ready soon after August 1. Would like to know what questions they ask in terms of essay for example.

We plan on using Clemson’s application instead of Coalition because our guidance department has had a lot of issues with Coalition.

Anyone have any insight? Also what is the Clemson essay prompt? Is there more than one place to tell about yourself or is it one essay with their application (apply web). Is the one that comes up as candidates comments when you google?

I recommend Clemson application, especially if you are looking to get it in early. It is easier to fill out than the Coalition app. Unless things change next year, they do not have a traditional essay. There is/was an optional essay/personal statement/explanation section. My S19 left it blank because in the past, admissions selection has been stats based: gpa, rank, rigor, test scores, legacy, residency. He did fill in the section where you list awards/activities. Housing priority is based on the date you submit the application.

You cannot get into the application early. As @xn3mom said, it’s not an essay; it’s a personal paragraph (no prompt and not a personal statement). It could be used to explain your poor grades in 10th grade due to your concussion from pole vaulting or showcase why you think you should be a Tiger. It’s wide open and very short. The application is simple to finish.
