My DS went on the application site this morning and it says it’s closed?
Is it possible that it hasn’t even opened yet? It’s only July and the priority deadline appears to be December.
That’s what I’m thinking, but I can’t find the information online anywhere? We went to Spring Blitz so I will go through all that to find the opening date. Thanks!
It opens August 1. Dec 15th is priority deadline.
Clemson app is open now. Apply early if interested as housing priority is determined by application date.
hello carolinamom2boys. You seem like a wealth of knowledge and I would love your input. My son did just apply August 1st for the Fall of 2018. Clemson is his dream school. We are OOS. He has a 3.87 GPA, 1370 on SAT (taking it again one more time in October) 9 Dual Enrollment Classes with 4 AP, but is more like top 25% of class since he goes to a very competitive HS. He wants to major in business or economics. Do you think he has a good shot of acceptance?
@mweb136 2 years ago , I would’ve said great shot , but I’ll be honest , last year’s acceptances were all over the board with people I would’ve expected to be admitted were waitlisted , bridged or deferred . The number of applicants are risen dramatically . I do think business is one of the more competitive majors, but I am not certain. I don’t know if you are looking for merit, but his rank will most likely keep him from receiving any based on info provided on their website and info my son and I received two years ago at Discover Clemson . Good luck to your son . As an aside , Clemson does not have rolling admissions , so it is very rare to hear anything before Feb.
Thank you carolinamom2boys. I forgot to mention my son is in all Honors classes. I know Clemson has become more competitive. I was told they will be taking a few thousand more applicants this year and hopefully more business majors since the new business school is coming. I am not sure how competitive the economics program is there so fingers crossed I guess.
Good luck to your son @mweb136 . The typical applicant to Clemson has taken honors , AP or DE classes. When my son applied in 2016, there were approx 22,000 applicants, last year there were approx 28,000. Are they accepting more applicants this year. We’ll be watching. My younger son has Clemson as his top choice for 2019. We’re instate . He has a 4.5 WGPA and is ranked in the top 10% of his class. He has not taken his SAT or ACT yet, but are expecting to be bridged.
Time will tell.
Thank you @carolinamom2boys. I remember when I went to the Spring Blitz this past April Clemson said your grading system is different than ours in NJ. If my son were in SC his GPA would be a 4.8 now. Unfortunately he is still not in the top 10%. Those kids seem to be going to the Ivies this year.
