I just received my decision today from Clemson University and was invited to enroll in their Bridge Program with Tri-County Technical College. Did anyone else get bridged? Are you going to go through with it? Or, has anyone had any experience with this program, and if so, could you please tell me about it? Thank you.
I got bridged and I think I’m going to enroll. I have a friend that went through the bridge program and has no regrets. She’s happily at Clemson now.
Did you friend feel like she was part of Clemson as a freshman? I know that this fall Bridge students live on Clemson campus. Just wondering if they feel any type of separation? I know bridge students can go to athletic games and enroll in clubs.
I have been told the only real “downside” of Bridge was the living across the lake situation but that’s been resolved for 2018 enrollees. Those places were nice but it made you feel isolated from the experience. Bridge is not at all a compromise like some people are acting like it is. The reality is that Clemson has had a surge in applications. 10-12 years ago it was different than it is now. The people getting into Bridge now are well above the scores of a “Clemson enrollee” average of 2005. You can count of the # of Bridge students increasing over the next few years as the demand for Clemson continues to outpace the available classroom availability.
My daughter was in Bridge and she is happy she did it. She is now in the Honors College At Clemson and doing very well, Bridge students do not get tickets to Football games unless you purchase a season ticket. My daughter did not feel like she was really a part of the campus while in bridge. The classes are quite removed from campus. She had some real stinkers for instructors while at TCTC. Being on campus now, you will be able to take advantage of a meal plan which is nice. You may consider staying home and going to your local tech school and transferring in.
Has anyone received the email that is being sent from Tri-County regarding paying your nonrefundable deposit?
@BridgeDad I haven’t recieved the email but I did recieve something in the mail with a link
Just got the email.
Hey Everyone: I’m in the same boat. Clemson is my daughter’s first choice and she got bridged as well. It’s not looking like she’s going to go thru with it, but we keep pushing her because our older daughter is at Clemson and loves it. It is an amazing school…as you all know. The downside with Bridge is that you are unable to join a Sorority and any Club sports. So much to think about. I will say this: there is new housing at Litesey for Bridge students, and they are ‘supposedly’ doing a complete overhaul. My daughter was at Litesey her sophomore year and aside from the bug infestation, she wasn’t that far from campus. Massive Palmetto bugs…watch out! I’ve called tho, and admissions said they are completely redoing it. The walk from Litesey to the main campus is dark. There aren’t any blue lights. That was something I wasn’t happy about. Any questions about Clemson, just ask me. I have a daughter there who is a junior.
I do not believe Bridge students can be in sports clubs…it’s up to the advisers or whoever is in charge of that particular sport. Definitely look into this…
Some people in Bridge said they have been able to do intramurals. I think the only for sure “can’t do” is rush, but honestly I think that’s for the best. The first year, trying to rush and acclimate to the responsibilities/challenges that come from being coddled to a large extent at home to being on your own is enough to cause a lot of stress and GPA issues for many. Adding a sorority/fraternity to that is something I would rather them wait until they have learned the ropes a little bit.
After about 6 hours of being disappointed with her Bridge invitation, and thinking she would be an Auburn Tiger, we decided to schedule a Bridge tour. Clemson was her first choice. As a Clemson alum, I was actually impressed with the TCTC tour - the staff was amazing, and I believe it will be an easy transition for her. I especially like that she will be admitted to Clemson in the major that she has chosen without having to reapply. The only thing that they cannot participate in is sorority /fraternity rush and competitive “club” sports (they can participate in intramurals). She spoke to a current sophomore at Clemson who went through Bridge last year and had a very positive experience. She’s #ALLIN : )
My daughter is speaking to a sophomore student who was a bridge last year as well, this week. Hoping my daughter will be #ALLIN as well after that convo. Clemson was her top as well. And she got into her major as well. Then she’ll have to start looking for roommates!!
Make sure you pay your deposit before the deadline this week if you are #ALLIN. Otherwise you could be waitlisted for Bridge.
