Clemson Class of 2025 Admissions

Ah, I see that now. Thank you!

Where do you find it in IRoar?

The email my son received about his scholarship being posted also had instructions to log into iRoar

I think it’s the same with most public colleges, Clemson at least gave my OOS daughter $7,500, her highest public merit was $22,000, in state Rutgers gave her $0 (1470 SAT, 33 ACT, top 10 in her class). She doesn’t know anyone who got anything in state.

Yes! And it’s probably more modeled than just the 50%. They should have the data to know target acceptances for each merit offer level per state and demographic.

D’s acceptance from Clemson didn’t mention any scholarship, yet she was accepted to FSU and UofSC w/OOS waiver (and Captsone at UofSC), and accepted to UF and UGA - both higher ranked and lower cost than Clemson for OOS, even w/o merit. Kind of hard to understand what Clemson is doing, but no matter, since she likes her other options better. Best wishes to all of you!

I am wondering if they are including the $5500 Stafford loan in that amount. Would add up right with the $11k scholarships we’ve been seeing here, and that’s the way Clemson frames it in their aid grid.

I got plenty in awards from other in-state colleges (Furman, Converse, UofSC, CCU, etc.), but I can pretty well affirm that they’re much more inclined to give merit to students just to get them to enroll. Clemson (and, to some extent, UofSC) doesn’t need to do that whatsoever.

It’s one of those things that makes sense once you’ve calmed down about the disappointment, but it still stings. This wouldn’t even be such a disappointment if Clemson told students what to expect, but their information is sparse and hard to find. All of us have worked really hard, but those that really want to go to Clemson feel shafted.

Good luck on your SAT! As predicted my daughter with Palmetto Fellows received $1500 from CU. At least with her STEM major it will go up to 11,500 next year with the CU scholarship. The Honors College fee negates the $1500 though. She was given an extra $3000 from USC and $4000 from College of Charleston.

$11k including the unsubsidized loan is looking pretty standard for high-ranking in-state students. This is the email I just got from Clemson’s Financial Aid after requesting a breakdown, which also confirms that students seeking Palmetto Fellows will receive an updated package if they qualify after the fact:

Yep, seems about right. Congrats to your daughter!

Even those who are rich, saved or are ok with a mortgage payment will still compare Clemson to other options and do a cost-benefit analysis. Unless Clemson for some reason really stands out over other options, they still will not chose it.

We can technically afford Clemson, but there is still a money value factor. Why spend 3x the amount on tuition at Clemson when, for example, their engineering program is ranked lower than one school and about the same as another school that after merit awards are 1/3 the tuition for OOS (let alone our in-state options)?

To me, based on this year’s merit amounts I can only see Clemson making sense for high stat students in-state. OOS high stat students are almost all going to have better offers in hand from equivalent or better OOS or private schools (or their respective in-state options will be much lower cost). It’s unfortunate.

Totally agree. If high stats students are the only ones receiving money at Clemson then I’d have to imagine they are receiving way more at another college. While Clemson has a good reputation, It’s not Harvard.

Does anyone know what the cut off was for merit? We are OOS and from a super competitive high school. My DD has 1450 SAT, 4.4 WGPA, 11 APs (scored 5s on four tests, and a 4 on one, and will take 6 this spring), mostly all remaining g classes were Honors level, leadership in clubs, accomplished musician with many awards, lots of volunteer, etc. She was admitted to Honors. Based on the awards from previous years, I thought she would get something…but was only offered a loan.

My DD has similar resume as yours except test optional. Also admitted to Honors. And received… the loan.

The Gov. of South Carolina has Clemson capped at a certain percentage of OOS and also capped $$$ for OOS. He feels instate should be given priority on both fronts. So it’s the Gov, not Clemson. My brother is interested in applying next year from NY…but the full price won’t work.

Im so sorry; for analysis purposes, was she in the top 10% by class rank (or by decile on the school profile sent by her GC), was her uwgpa >3.85 and did she apply before December 1st?

I believe that is incorrect.

I don’t know how sat to act scores relate but my OOS D’s resume looks similar but she has 34 ACT and 3.85 WGPA and got the $11k Scholarships.

For TigerWife…Yes to all I think but I would need to confirm UW GPA…it’s that it close to it. I wonder what happens to those declining their offers. Would they offer money to others? Next in line perhaps?
