Gov. Henry McMaster and commission tell SC universities to cap, freeze or cut tuition now

Probably not, but if she met the stats I mentioned above, I think it’s worth a call to get an explanation. From watching the pattern over the last couple years, uwgpa or rank (or estimated rank based on school profile) seem to have been some of the culprits. Good luck!

Thank goodness because without his orders we couldn’t afford instate tuition even with scholarships. It was getting out of control. Even now with Palmetto Fellows and the itty bitty extra, it brings it down to what NC tuition prices are.

To second what Tigerwife said - my understanding is that Clemson largely considers rank. Something in an info session my D attended last year gave her the impression at least that she had to rank in top 10%. I remember because at the time Clemson was her #1 and suddenly where do I rank became a big deal to her.

Hoping tuition remains the same for this coming year; D20 is able to save a lot by moving off campus next year. She and her friends picked an older complex, but clean, safe and on with a transit stop. They will save $3-4k off of r&b just by moving off campus. Don’t let the parents on FB fool you; there are thousands of kids who don’t live in the new luxury complexes. I’m pretty sure they can get through college without a lazy river, fire pit and beach volleyball court

That was a proposal by CHE for initiating statewide discussion, not current state law.

A clemson spokesman from the article really said “more than half of Clemson’s undergraduate students graduate with no debt and in-state students pay, on average, about 36 percent of the posted price for tuition and fees.”

If students who were offered scholarships decline, will those scholarships be passed along to others? Was the scholarship and loan offered in the same email or separate emails? Have all scholarships been sent out?

I asked the same question and was told that they don’t redistribute, scholarships are factored into anticipated yield.

My D18 moved to the Reserve which is nice clean safe and still has 2 pools etc and I saved about $4500 this year on the room and board. I think her apartment is $360 a month for 12 installments.

Wow, that’s so cheap!

Yes went from like $9000 from Core and Douthit her first 2 years to $4300 this year.

Yep, D20 is moving to Central as well, so much cheaper!!

Will they continue rolling out scholarships through May?

My kids went to college in the northeast, my 20 year old pays $750 a month with 5 roommates and I’m still paying $4000 a year less than R/B.

Do you need to commit to access the financial portal and make an iRoar account?

Nope

If any scholarships were awarded, they will be listed in your iroar account. There will not be another release for previously accepted students.

Does anyone know about when the honors college decisions will be released?

D already received hers a while ago, but maybe because she was EA?
