Clemson Class of 2025 Admissions

Accepted OOS (IL, large public HS) for History
4.15 W (5 APs, mostly honors otherwise)
3.7 UW
1260 SAT
Only EC of note is school newspaper editor
Confident I had a good essay and solid letters of rec
Both parents are Clemson grads

I wasn’t particularly confident I’d get in, but Clemson is my dream school as my family is originally from upstate SC and I grew up in a solidly Clemson household, so I’m sure I’ll be going now (only applied to two other schools).

Hope my stats could help anyone who wanted to see stats from fellow applicants, and congrats to everyone who was accepted!

Congratulations! I hope you love Tigertown once you get here in the fall!

Accepted my daughter OOS (GA)
3.6 UW/4.0W GPA
33 ACT
5 AP classes -many honors classes
Cheerleading Captain-basketball
Part-time work experience

We are waiting to see if she gets financial aid. She also got accepted to FSU, Auburn, and South Carolina with In state tuition offered at each school. Clemson is her number one choice if she gets a good financial package.

Congratulations to her!

Hi! My daughter was accepted to Honors and wants to live in core housing. Do you happen to know how quickly Honors housing fills up? I think her application was in early August.

Hi! Congratulations to your daughter. If she applied that early, she should definitely be able to grab a spot. Upperclassmen have already signed up, but I know that the majority of residents in Core are usually freshmen.

Congrats to D21!! I knew her acceptance would come; she probably has some great options and would love to branch off on her own, but if she decides to carve her own path in these hills, we’d love to have her.

Very similar- Disappointed but luckily there are many other amazing options already available. Clemson is not as appealing w/o honors college admission compared to some other offers!

I’m so sorry your very accomplished child did not get into the Honors College. I have one child that did and another that did not, so I certainly understand beIng disappointed . That said, I’m curious about why you feel it is so unappealing without honors.

Just edited my post; I should have added “compared to other offers”. There are opportunities only available to honors students at Clemson and there seems to be similar opportunities at other schools. Additionally, presumably less expensive offers (since I think the highest given to OOS students at Clemson has been ~20k/yr?) with honors college admission have been made at other schools.

Also it’s definitely hard for siblings when one gets into something and the other doesn’t. Hopefully they realize that it’s so subjective and it’s very possible different people reviewed and decided on their HC admissions!

Very gracious response on your part, especially for a kid who has yet to graduate high school! You are clearly going to excel wherever you decide to attend college. Well done and best of luck to you. Please keep those of us following this thread updated. Love to see good kids do great things!

My D is in the same position as other poster.

Clemson is a good university, but given its rankings other comparable universities are offering more to high stat students, either in terms of merit $ and/or honors/scholars opportunities. Some of the more popular majors at universities are business, computer science and engineering. Below are rankings (USN) national/business/computer science/engineering for a few as a comparison.

Clemson 74/67/71/59
NC State 80/81/52/32
ASU 103/24/61/42
UTK 112/44/71/63

My D plans to study engineering and was accepted to honors/scholars at the other three above, but not Clemson (+ merit good $ or are in-state for the others). Given engineering programs at others are higher or similarly ranked it’s hard to justify paying more for Clemson without honors. Same would be true for other students interested in the popular majors that likely are in a similar boat with at least some other options compared to Clemson.

My husband is a successful engineer (MSME/Acoustics/Vibrations). Members of his team are from state schools, MIT, etc. When he has hired new engineers he has hired from programs from lesser named schools over the big named ones. He always says it’s the connections/opportunities that you make and how you present yourself. Honestly, as long as it’s ABET accredited I’m not sure that it makes a huge difference once you have your foot in the door. I think Honors is great as an experience and for perks but I don’t think that it makes a huge difference in hiring. CU is in state for us so it’s more of a value but even as a CU grad I’m a little sad that she’s turning down the much cheaper/robust USC Honors. She’s excited about the CU program though.

in-state and have you beat on all fronts - was bridged which is a bummer

As a history major too? Make sure you’re comparing apples to apples.

Clemson isn’t all stats, and different programs have different amounts of space based on seat availability in intro classes. Bridge is often offered to students who can do very well at Clemson, but their programs filled up. Just because your student wasn’t admitted straight to Clemson doesn’t take away from their achievement.

Daughter was accepted to Business, OOS. Rejected from HC but chosen as a finalist (20 out of 650 applications) to Lyceum. Had her Lyceum interview this past Saturday. No mention of merit aid in acceptance letter, although I read from a previous poster that doesn’t necessarily mean merit aid isn’t coming in mid-March?

Interesting that Lyceum picked her but HC didn’t. She’s been offered Honors College at numerous other competitive universities, too.

Different people review the applications, and the programs each have different goals. Congratulations to your daughter on her interview!
