Does anyone know what school is the easiest to get into? I have a friend who is appealing and wants to put the most safe option possible.
Has anyone received an email notifying them that their portal has been updated? I was waitlisted, but I never actually received an email telling me to check my portal. Just wondering.
Also, have other very qualified students been waitlisted this year? Clemson was a pretty safe option for me so I was surprised to be waitlisted. Got accepted to a similarly competitive school on the same day with a 40k merit scholarship so I’m not overly heartbroken, but being waitlisted has certainly diminished my hopes regarding my reach schools.
Is anyone that was accepted a few weeks ago still waiting on the packet to come in the mail? People in my area have received theirs but nothing here.
I just received mine last night
My D received acceptance 2/15 to her 2nd choice major. Biology instead of Health Sci. Called Clemson Admissions and the screener asked my question before she forwarded it on. I don’t know if she was admissions or an campus operator. She said oh I can answer that - they are swamped. She said that she’d probably be able to switch to her first choice in May (should she accept)- I assume this is because some others in Health Sci will turn offer down? She’s pre-PA so either works. So I’m not sure if that was a reliable answer or not but that’s what it was . Also no merit $ mentioned. We won’t qualify for financial aid (still filed Fafsa though) - but does this mean no merit at all? Or could it still be coming? This forum suggests a lot of mixed messages from Clemson.
No package for us in IL (unless it arrives today?). Although honestly, Clemson has slipped down on my D’s list, after getting admitted to UF, and to FSU w OOS waiver.
I find this hard to believe that with the competitiveness of this applicant class, that any of these kids need coaching, tutoring or study skills. They are very elusive about the intent of the program, and the criterion for the selection process. Seems very shady
It feels like extortion - a way to get more tuition money from you!
My twin girls as well. What was the criterion for selection? Do people coming off the waitlist have to go then?!
Packet came today! Nothing earth shattering in it
I think it creates room in gen ed classes for the fall. I also think it’s a revenue stream for the university. A win/win for universities but not so much for families. My daughter has friends offered TTSB and they’re all high stats (honors/AP) and are prepared for college.
This may have been mentioned already but TTSB is another way for Clemson to “protect their yield.” TTSB does not count as an admission. It’s a way to offer an opportunity for admission to a student who Clemson believes may be unlikely to attend (whether due to higher end stats, lack of demonstrated interested, OOS and never visited, etc.) and not have it count against them if the student declines. I’m not saying this is the sole purpose of the program, though. It’s just one aspect.
Like so many, my D is very qualified and got into equally or more competitive schools, and in scholars programs. She was deferred from EA. It all seems so arbitrary.
It has moved off the top of her list, at this point.
Good luck.
I think that this year Clemson took into account the optional personal statement because I was accepted In-State into the fall semester (Mech. Engineering) with sub-par stats compared to many others on the forum (1340, 3.68UW, 4 APs, some ECs) but I wrote one hell of a personal statement IMO so maybe that might’ve been a big factor? I have no clue at this point honestly this year has just been like no other
Anyone else get an email about an Orange Carpet Virtual Reception?
Yes, my daughter got one today. Do you know anything more about it? Does everyone get the email invitation or only students that will be offered a scholarship?
On clemsons website it says that it’s a type of diversity scholarship offered to select students. Curious if your decision letter mentioned an academic scholarship? I’m wondering if this is a separate scholarship or my merit scholarship.
Her decision letter did not mention a merit scholarship. This must be in addition to the first scholarship you were awarded
I applied back in mid November and still haven’t heard anything… I emailed admissions several days ago and they said I’d get my decision soon… anyone else in the same boat??
I am assuming they are in the midst of doing the financial aid packages, because I got a notification for more paperwork yesterday. Fingers crossed it comes soon!
