I've seen a few threads about Clemson's Greek life, but I'm just a little confused about the housing situation. From what I have heard there are no fraternity houses at Clemson, but that the fraternities have a pretty strong part in the social life. Are they limited in events/parties due to the fact that they are in dorms, or are the dorms for the fraternities pretty much like houses? And if that is the case, does the administration let them get away with more? I could have my facts wrong, so any corrections are welcome.

Fraternities and Sororities have housing on-campus in the quad (and for some sororities, in the low rises on the east side of campus). However, fraternities also have houses off campus so the dorms are not like houses, just a convenient place for underclassmen to live as well as sorority members (since sororities aren’t allowed to have houses). So you’re wrong in that there are no fraternity houses, but these are off campus where the social life mostly occurs.

That’s about all I know since I’m not in greek life

Suunto, Pierre’s info is correct. The frats are in the old barracks (renovated) and have a pretty good setup with a large common area ideal for bands and tailgating before/after games. Some frats also have off campus houses.
There is discussion about a Greek village similar to S.Carolina, but the village is so far from the football stadium, there has not been alot of interest by the Greeks.
Good luck.

Alright thanks for the quick and thorough response!
