I was accepted into Clemson EA and I'm considering going. I've received a lot of advice from different people. I'm from New Jersey. Everyone says if I go to Clemson it's going to be a culture shock. Some say it's too Southern and I won't like it. Others say it's the best school and I will love it. I'm planning on visiting in February but I want to get some feedback on what everyone thinks about life at Clemson.

I’m from Boston and I have had no problem adjusting here. If you want to talk to some freshman from New Jersey and ask them some questions about adjusting to Clemson, I can get some contacts for you for sure (know way too many people from New Jersey). For me, it’s the best school for me and I love it here. There are some stuff here special to the south but it hasn’t bothered me at all (I guess I’m more open to new things). Do you have any specific concerns about the south?

Thanks for the input. I don’t have any specific concerns about going South. I’ve heard that everyone is very nice and friendly, but the atmosphere has a slower pace. I’m very open to new things, but just a little worried that maybe the Clemson will be too much out of my comfort zone (not to mention a long drive from NJ). I think once I visit I’ll be able to judge if it’s the right school for me.

I’m also from NJ and just got accepted. I’ll also be visiting sometime in February, too. If people are nice there then I’m sure I’ll like it. People in NJ aren’t exactly friendly (most of the time).

I think you’ll get a better feel if you come visit, talk to some students and just walk around campus. If you feel comfortable here, there’s a good chance you’ll fit in well here. I understand about the distance which is annoying but in my opinion it’s worth it. People are nice and friendly here. Definitely come for a visit sometime.

Just booked my flight last night! I’m visiting in February.

Congratulations! How were you notified of your acceptance?

Do you mind sharing what airline and airport you’re flying into? We’re going to try to visit in February, too. I know we’re coming from different directions, NO versus NJ, but interested to see how others are going to handle the logistics of airports to the campus.

Thanks for any info!

If I fly down to Clemson, I fly to Atlanta. From the airport, I take the subway and bus to the train station just outside of downtown Atlanta and you can take a 2 hour train ride to Clemson (leaves at 8:20 PM, gets to Clemson at 10:30 or so PM).

I was accepted in early December via mail. We’re flying into Greenville-Spartanburg.
