Clemson Housing

My roommate and I both got into the Honors College at Clemson, but we don't know if we should stay in Holmes or in Clemson House. The cost and location are not an issue for us. Which dorm is nicer to live in? The website shows that Clemson House has bigger rooms, but I wasn't sure if they were "better" than the rooms in Holmes. Thanks.

If you have housing priority, I’d say to go with the apartments in Clemson House - that’s just my personal opinion.

I am a fellow accepted Honors College student from a high school that sends several students to Clemson every year. I have personally been into the rooms at Holmes, and have friends who are currently in Clemson House. The rooms in Holmes are much bigger than they appear online, and very comfortable in my opinion. The main difference between what my friends tell me about Clemson House and Holmes is the location. Clemson House is farther away from the heart of campus, while Holmes is next to the University Union, the largest Dining Hall, and Tillman Hall (houses academic office of Honors College). Holmes also has the Honors Center in the basement, where students have access to free printing and coffee, along with study spaces. You will also be able to be more plugged into the Honors Community if you were to room in Holmes.

Great points from whiteskn - I personally think Clemson House is the nicer dorm but Holmes isn’t bad either and while I don’t know about Holmes, I do know that Clemson House residents tend to not socialized too much amongst each other, possibly because people stay in the comfort of their rooms (vs normal dorm rooms like the High Rises/Shoeboxes). Holmes is definitely in a great location, Clemson House is a little out of the way on a hill
