Hi! So I am a high-school junior and live in South Carolina. As far as what I am looking into as a major (computer science), my top in-state school would have to be Clemson University (honors college), and out-of-state, Chapel Hill (UNC).

Why Chapel Hill?
- Family Legacy (nearly the entirety of my mom's side) -- die-hard Heel at heart.
- Reputable
- good BS/MS plan for CompSci
- good business school should I decide to integrate it with CompSci
- the Research Triangle

Why Clemson?
- in-state tuition
- smaller size
- a fairly solid CompSci program as far as I can tell

What are my Chances?
Of getting into Clemson? Honestly I should get in no problem, and with that receive a lot of scholarship money from in-state programs. For Chapel Hill? HONESTLY... My chance is not in walk in the park, but not a long shot. My GPA and extracurricular are all comparable to several of my cousins/friends who attend OOS (compared to their high-school resumes, of course).

I don't believe in putting my entire application online for chances, but as a brief breakdown, at the end of my senior year I'll have 13 APs, probs 4.93+ GPA, SAT over 1400, 4 years of Mock Trial (around 570 hours total), job as a camp counselor (again about 550 hours), and all the involvement/leadership everyone else seems to have.

Decisions to Make? (UNC vs. Clemson)
- Family Legacy vs. Going In-State
- OOS tuition vs. In-Sate tuition + scholarships (assuming I get next-to-no $ from UNC)
- Solid Program vs. Decent program
- etc, etc

This is probably, hopefully, what my college decision boils down to (if I get in to UNC), but I am also applying to Duke and Wake Forest University, and maybe Vandy or Dartmouth if I feel like lowering my self-esteem via rejection. I really want to make the right descision but I am honestly torn. I have visited both schools and all the NC schools I mentioned beforehand.

Any advice at all would be great!
