Clemson or USC?

(Maybe I shouldn’t be posting this in the Clemson U. forum to avoid biased opinions but lets see where we go)

My daughter got into University of South Carolina and we are expecting that she will get into Clemson but she hasn’t heard yet. Since I just lost my job, it is now easier just to throw in the towel and move to SC and pay in-state tuition once we are there 1 year (1st year will be expensive though) - we have been wanting to move for a while now and this is a great opportunity. I was looking in the Fort Mill area so we are convenient to Charlotte for work.

Anyway my question is, assuming she gets into Clemson, whether one school is thought to be better than the other? Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

You need to check residency requirements for both schools to determine when you will be eligible for instate tuition.

Also what is your daughter’s major. That will be a factor in determining which school is better for her.

Sorry, I hadn’t seen these replies. I am 7 months (or so) late in replying. My daughter received a generous scholarship from UGA. Clemson gave her too little although she may have preferred it. She is quite happy though and is going to college with her first cousin and my cousin’s daughter. Her major is genetics and so far she is doing well!

I did find out that residency requirements at Clemson is somewhat soft. They told me they routinely bend the rules, even if there for a short time, as long as you can show that you have an intention of staying in South Carolina (jobs, housing, etc.).
