Hoping to reach some current/former Clemson students (transfer or otherwise) for some advice! I’m a transfer student admitted to both Clemson and UNC Chapel Hill and currently deciding between the two. I just saw that Clemson requires placement tests in both math (my potential major) and foreign language (which I believe I would transfer all the credits I need), and I’m freaking out a bit. Am I overreacting - are the tests really that scary? Also, do transfers have to sign up for the classes they’re placed in if they transferred a higher course, or do they have a choice to just try?
They are simply placement tests, intended to asses your currently level and place you in the proper class. You just take the tests and sign up and then you’ll take the classes you are suited for. You have the option to take the math one again if you feel like you want to try to do better. Remember, you’d rather be put in the proper class, than in over your head.
In addition, you will only need to take the foreign language placement test if your major requires a language, or if you intend to take language courses.
