I am a graduate international student from India. I have got offer in both Clemson University and SUNY-Stony Brook for MS in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Communication Engineering area. I have not been offered financial assistance by both. Not yet able to decide which one to go for.

I would like to know what are the relative strengths/weaknesses of these 2 universities, particularly w.r.t.
a) Chances of getting funding at a later stage
b) Opportunities of doing CPT/OPT and after-MS job opportunities
c) Academic/Research environment, especially in Communication Engineering area and how are the professors
d) Any other area of importance

Finally, any suggestion as to what should be my final destination Clemson or SUNYSB?

Suny Stony brook is thought to have one of the premier programs in the world for science/math/engineering. It also has one of the lowest OOS tuitons (aout 15,000$ per year) and is in a very nice area of long island. It is usually seen by employers as a very good school (in the northeast at least) and will surely provide you with many opprotunities, especially with its proximity to new york city.

i can not speak for clemson, but i’ve always thought of it as an IIYCC (in if your check clears) and a party school

^yeah except in the US, Stony Brook approximately has the same reputation as clemson. Every public university is a party school in the US. I don’t go to parties and I’m still having fun at Clemson. The major problem with Stony Brook is that on the weekends, everyone goes home and nobody stays on campus.
