Hello! I'm an in state student looking to get into Clemson University. I have a current weighted 4.2 GPA on a 5.0 scale. I'm an IB student, so that's sort of why my GPA is a bit lower than average. I got a 27 on the ACT. I'm a part of my high school band, and I've received awards, such as the Patrick S. Gilmore Award. I've also held a regional chair for Clarinet every year of high school so far. I'm planning on being a part of the Clemson Tiger Band, if I'm accepted. I'm also a member of National Honor Society, where I've completed 45 hours (and counting) of community service. My first choice major is in Biological Sciences with an emphasis on the Pre-rehabilitation Sciences. Do you think I have a legitimate chance for acceptance into my dream school? Thank you!

I’m also in the top 11% of my class (34/308)

Yeah, I think you have a good chance! I’ve had friends go who had a 4.3 on a 5.875 scale, which is comparable to what you have. However, the two I knew had a 30 and a 28 for ACT scores, so maybe retake or try sat? I do think marching band will help your application, as will volunteering and your awards, so hopefully you’re a strong candidate! Best of luck!

bump

Thank you! I have my fingers crossed! @DrSCHC

@pierre0913 from other forums, you seem to have a good idea about acceptance at Clemson. Chance me?

I would think that if you’re in NHS, top 11% and in-state you should have a pretty good chance at getting in despite the low-ish ACT score (GPA is probably fine). Good luck!

Thank you! Great news to hear!
