Clemson vs. Cal Poly SLO architecture

Hi all! I am currently a high school senior and I am trying to make my final decision on what school to go to next year. I live in NJ and am majoring in architecture. My top choices are Cal Poly SLO and Clemson and both end up to be around the same price. I have visited them both and can see myself on both campuses because I love warm weather and outdoor activities. I know Cal Poly SLO has one of the top programs in the country for architecture, but for about the same price, I could get my masters at Clemson by just staying another year. I really like Cal Poly’s learn by doing motto and weather, but Clemson’s school pride and updated architecture building attracted me to it. Would it be stupid to pass up getting my masters at Clemson in 6 years to get my bachelors at Cal Poly in 5? If i could get some feedback on anyone’s personal experience with either of the schools and the architecture program, I’d really appreciate it.

@cnp10810, Congratulations: You’re going to be an architect! My advice would be to concentrate on the BArch program that best fits what you’re looking for in environment and design aesthetic. These are two good choices but are very different in ambiance.

If you do end up getting the MArch you might decide to choose another school altogether or work a few years before plunging into graduate school.

You should post your query on the Architecture Careers board of this site to get some personal feedback.
