I am confused whether I would rather go to Clemson or Elon. Thoughts from people that had to choose and why?
My friend chose Clemson over Elon because he felt like academically it was a better fit for him he said Elon had a beautiful campus and liked the vibe of it there but other than that there wasn’t much reason to attend Elon over Clemson. Clemson is a much bigger school don’t know if thats a good or bad thing for you. He loved the spirit at clemson especially around sports. As an out of state applicant he saw no reason to pay the only slightly less expensive price for Elon when he felt Clemson was a better academic school. They offer a lot more majors at Clemson and as far as post grad life he felt a degree from Clemson was more beneficial than one from Elon. He also felt like there was a lack of diversity at Elon which didn’t sit well with him. Overall Elon had a beautiful campus smaller class sizes and a positive vibe to it, but he felt Clemson would be more academically challenging, more beneficial after college, and would meet a variety of different types of people. Great question! My daughter will be most likely looking at these two schools as her first choice. I believe, as of now, she is leaning towards Clemson. Hoping more people respond.
The answer will be different for different people. The schools have obvious differences in student population and probably class size, level of sports prowess etc. The answer would depend on which environment each person feels they want for their college experience. And of course price would likely be a factor, particular for someone who is in-state for Clemson.
OP, if you haven’t visited the two schools, then you should. That may answer your question for you. If you have visited both, and are still asking, then that’s a different issue.

They are quite different schools, and what would be great for one student may be the opposite for another. Get in the car and go visit both so you can make an informed decision. At a minimum, visit Clemson, and if you fall in love, you are probably all set.

My daughter will be looking at Clemson and Elon next year. On paper they are her top two choices. I was wondering where you decided to go. Also, would you please share your stats (class rank, GPA, SAT/ACT) and whether or not you earned any Merit Scholarship. Many thanks!
I ended up getting waitlisted at Clemson but getting into Elon so I am most likely ending up at Elon. My school does not do class rank, my ACT was a 28 composite and my gpa was a 4.6/5. I did not earn any merit scholarships from Elon.
