Clemson vs. Univ of Miami

I’ve been accepted into the business schools at both Clemson and University of Miami (FL) and am having a difficult time deciding which school to attend.

Miami, academically, ranks higher than Clemson and is located in/near a larger city. Whereas the campus of Clemson is pretty much the “city”. There is more diversity at Miami then Clemson, but clemson has a larger greek life and sports following and alumni pride.

While there are things I like about each school - and they are very different from one another - i’m torn what to use as my deciding factor.

Cost of tuition etc is not a factor. Any advice or thoughts??

Classic case of equally excellent.

Although your average U grad might debate the school spirit/Greek life advantage at Clemson.

Coral Gables is fantastic. I do agree that Clemson, especially in that region has a strong alumni network, especially around business opportunities.

Miami has a stong network as well. But it’s just not the same IMHO. More transplants move to Fl. More moving out of the area post grad etc at Miami.

If both the same costs. Go with your heart. They are equally excellent.

If one is less money and you like them equally. Choose less. First business decision for a business major may be a life changer.

If one is more. But you like better. Depends on how much more.

^^^ This is the best answer. The biggest difference is the environment. Would you rather live in a resort set in a city, or a resort set in the country? Would you go kayaking on the lake in your free time, or would you rather have access to good restaurants (even on a student budget) and more social options at night than just greek life?
DS is a Jr at Miami, and while he is not a big partier, he goes out to eat with friends for birthdays and the like, goes to Coconut Grove, works PT for a company in Ft. Lauderdale doing analytics AND is a baseball scout, opportunities that he probably wouldn’t have at Clemson. But DD would never have chosen a school in a city - and she did apply to Clemson, although she ultimately chose a different school. Two goodchoices.

@Tiger2Be2023 My son is in the same boat as you. We will be going to accepted student day to both this April. I’m hoping he has that ah-ha moment. Are you able to visit them both as an accepted student. I think there’s a different feel than when you’re looking thinking about applying.
