For engineering. Right now VTech is top of the list, but i am strongly considering clemson and ohio state as well. Any one have an opinion, assuming cost were the same, as to which school would be better for me.

base it on this criteria (going into chemical or mechanical engineering):

prestige
job recruiting
actual learning experience (e.g. student to faculty ratio, renowned professors, etc.)
rural, safe, laid back environment
party scene is good, but people actually study too
diverse, but fairly conservative
good sports..... (o wait...they all three fit that :D)

those are some of my criteria, but feel free to add any other opinions based on experience with the schools. I have been accepted to all three and I am visiting osu and clemson this weekend. Any input is appreciated!

I'll try to address everything individually

Prestige- Clemson is widely known as an engineering school, and is highly regarded as such. I know VT has an engineering background as well, but I haven't heard too much about Ohio State's program. I have always thought Purdue was more math/science.

Job recruiting- From what I hear, Clemson places very well into the job market. Co-oping and internships are the norm for students.

Learning Experience- Every freshman engineering student will tell you how much they despise the general engineering class. However, after you get out of those, I have heard nothing but excellent things about th engineering department classes. My experience with classes have been great. For my first two semester (usually the largest classes) I have had an average of 20-30 in my classes. There are large lectures, but I have been very happy with the ratio.

Environment- Rural, safe, and laid-back is the perfect description for Clemson. I know OSU is more urban, and I believe VT is set in a similar place as Clemson.

Party Scene- I know people who go out every night, and people who never go out. I believe all three schools have a good scene. If you have any specific questions about Clemson's feel free to PM me.

Diversity- I wouldn't say Clemson is that diverse, but it certainly isn't the WASP capital of the US college system either. Diversity is here and the groups mix often. For a college, the campus is conservative.

Sports- All three have great sports. I really like how Clemson has good football, basketball, and baseball. Basketball starts just after football ends, and baseball begins as basketball winds down. It gives a good year-round sports experience.
