Clep American Government

I have a 2 in AP exam, should I clep it ?
what is the credit count for and how much credit can I get ?
what material should I use to study since it been a while

I’d recommend CLEP to anyone who scores less than a 4 on the AP exam. CLEP is multiple-choice and instantly scored. Usually, a score above 50 (the scale is 20-80) is worth 3 credits BUT YOU MUST check with the college you’re interested in attending. Some schools don’t accept CLEP at all. Some have limitations on how many CLEP credits they’ll accept. It’s the same with AP. Some schools don’t accept AP scores below 4 or 5. Some don’t accept certain AP tests. So check with the college.

My son scored a 3 on AP US Hist and a 740 on the SAT subject test. I wish I had had him take the CLEP instead of the subject test. Many schools require a 4 on that AP exam, but they’ll take a 50 on the CLEP. (That’s the same as requiring a B on the harder, AP exam but a C on the CLEP.)

I found this list of questions on another forum. It’s a good checklist for any CBE (credit-by-exam).

Does my college accept CLEP/DSST/AP at all?

If so, which tests.

Of these, which apply to my degree plan?

How many credits are each exam worth?

Is there a score minimum needed to get those credits?

Is there an in-house cost to put those credits on my transcript?

Can I have my score report automatically sent to this college?

If the exam offers an essay, is one required for me?

Do I have the CLEP policy in writing, or am I going on the word of an advisor?

Where do I take CLEP test?

What is the maximum number of credits I can use toward my degree?
