I guess my question is what is your opinion on the CLEP exam. Because, my parents and teachers have been pushing me hard to do it but I see alot more value in the AP and SAT II tests because they are accepted at more colleges. So what is you guy's opinion?

if ur in college sure as hell take it...even if you arent brilliant in the subject its multiple choice and theres like 90 questions so u could guess them correctly..depending on what level of school you are going to some of them accept pretty low scores on it...it saves time, money, and gives u a chance to stay ahead with ur college credits...keep in miind some of the better schools dont accept them, so check on collegeboard

The CLEP tests aren't for college admissions.

The CLEP tests are used to try to get college credit-by-exam from your own college for courses you think you already know.

Most well-known private colleges do not give any CLEP credit. Many but not all large state colleges are willing to give some CLEP credit.

If you are a high school student and can only take either the CLEP or the AP test, an AP test score is going to be accepted for credit at far more places than the CLEP score will.

Hm-m-m, we didn't necessarily find the AP over CLEP to be true, some actually were the other way around or credit for AP would not be granted unless the student would make a certain grade in the next higher course. Also, AP's cost more than CLEP. My daughter took the CLEP Freshman Comp. today & tested out of Eng. 101 & 102 (6 credits) Less than 90 minutes & cost was well worth it. As far as the SAT II's, check with the college you will attend. Some require certain ones & some colleges won't accept them @ all. That was one good thing about getting accepted early; my daughter then had time to weigh which exams to take & get the scores back before the start of the semester.
