Hey, I am just wondering if anyone has taken the College algebra Clep exam and how it was?

Also , Assuming I can pass this College algebra clep, is there any other class i need to take before i can take Calculus for Business Majors.

Is college algebra needed, or can i just go straight to Calculus or Stats?

and one more question, my first semester at FSU, do they require me to take a math class? Because if not then, I can just take the Clep at FSU during the first semester and not worry about taking it this summer.

From the U Bulletin: MAC 2233. Calculus for Business (3). Prerequisites: Suitable mathematics examination placement score or MAC 1105 or MAC 1140. Not open to students who have credit in MAC 2311 with a grade of “C–” or better. Covers limits, continuity, first and higher derivatives, and the differential, with applications to graphing, rates of change, and optimization methods; techniques of integration and applications; introduction to multivariate calculus.

You need MAC 1105 or an SAT score that exempts you. (Students who score a 680 on the mathematics portion of the SAT or a 30 on that section of the ACT earn credit for College Algebra (MAC 1105).) CLEP is another option.

MAC 2311 Calculus with Analytic Geometry I is a differnt story. you need 1105, 1114 (trig) and 1140 (precalc).

You are required to take an english class your first semester on campus (ENC 1101, 1102 etc unless you have credits for both), but not a math class. And summer math classes are discouraged for entering freshman, as Summer B is only 6 weeks, classes meet every day, and the material is covered in a very short period of time.

Take the CLEP test at your local CC now, or over the summer at FSU.

I am relieved I don’t need to take precalc and trig, I was kinda freaking out that I didnt pass my AP calc exam and would have to take all these classes. But I should be able to CLEP out easily and then just take calc for business.

For the College Algebra CLEP buy the practice exam from collegeboard online. The practice is harder than the actual CLEP exam (which is always better than the reverse!) but very very similar in terms of content. If you practice on that and understand most of the problems you should be able to CLEP easily!
