I was looking at AP credit for some schools, and I noticed that many of them give credit for this CLEP testing. I haven't heard about it at all on this site, so I'm wondering, can high school students take the tests, or is it only for older people?

Yes you can if you want. if you know the material then sure… AP’s are taught thats why most school kids take em

i was just asking because UNC is capping the amount of ap credit you can receive next year, and CLEP would be an easy way to get a little more credit

in that case maybe not. they probably will not give you credit because you are trying to clip through their system if thats the rule

best way is to call them and ask. if they have capped it and CLEP is allowed then yay! otherwise they probably wont accept it, so save time and money

Be sure to check with the school. UNC doesn’t accept many CLEPS.

This site has a chart of CLEP acceptance at North Carolina state schools.

You have to check with school itself for footnotes on acceptance…some limit number of credits, some require an add’l departmental essay, some require the next course in the series to be passed successfully. Many schools have no footnotes, though, and CLEP is a great way to get a head start on the general education requirements.
