Do you get CLEP exam result with a score, or is it merely pass or fail? If there is a score, does the college that accepts it include that score in the record?

Also, if you were registered for a community college about a year ago but never went because all desired classes were full and going back this Spring, are you still considered a sophomore despite of having no unit or are you definitely considered a freshman?

Thanks.

You get a score from CLEP exams. How it is reported will probably vary by college. Some colleges convert the score into a grade and others don't.

Your academic standing is determined by how many credits you have, not how long you have been enrolled.

Thanks, ThatPoshGirl

Does anybody who goes to a California community college know the exact answer to this question?

I remember reading in the past that community colleges definitely accept CLEP credits WITHOUT GRADING THE SCORES but just recording them as just PASS.

So basically, if you let's say get 60/100 for four CLEP exams and pass them (since 50+ is passing), get all A's on all the future courses in just one year to transfer, your GPA would be 4.0 despite of your CLEP scores being technically D/F's. Is that right?

Go to the college you are interested and search for their polcy on clep tests.

My Ds school (large State U) just shows clep tests with a 'neutral grade' of P (pass) so has no effect on GPA. I believe this is pretty common. But you would really need to check the policy for the school you are interested in.
