Cliche common app?

Yay for common app being live today! Just kidding…
Well anyway I’ve been brainstorming essay number one about background and how it’s important to you.
Now I’m not going to talk about my family and how they are immigrants lol
But I want to talk about how I have heavy influence from being middle eastern and also having influences of Greek culture from my religion. Would that sound cliche? That’s truly me and I’m just one big hummus loving Mediterranean. How does that sound? What should I avoid? And what should I point out?

A possible angle-You could write about a specific family event that you attended. You can add some comedic and poignant illustrations of your family life. For instance, “When Aunt Sally puts out her homemade pita bread, I always think about the time I spent in her kitchen learning how to make it from scratch. Her stories were so entertaining that I decided to put them in my journal for memory sake.” Each relative would add a different flavor to your family recipe. You must keep in mind though that the essay is about YOU and how these relatives influenced your life.

Thanks you!
Anyone want to elaborate more?

I don’t think that’s cliche. Make it stand out by elaborating on how your diversity affects you as a person and what it teaches you.

No culture is never cliche and adcoms love this kind of difference. Definitely go for it!
