Cliche essay topic?

I broke my right arm hurdling in track, and I had to learn to do everything left handed, including taking AP tests. It looked like I might not be able to play my senior year of tennis, and I was so frustrated with that possibility that I played tennis left-handed for several months. Is this topic too cliche/boring or could it show determination and making the most of opportunities? I need to start now because I am applying EA to Michigan.

Thank you!

I think it could definitely show determination! Do you still use your left hand for some things? How difficult was it to learn? You would have to be careful writing it though because the topic could become a really well-written one or very poorly-written depending on the flow of it. I’d definitely like to read a draft of it and help you out!

Thank you! I basically use my left hand to play tennis and learned how to write left-handed if I ever needed to. Like you said it’s probably a lot about how I write it. Does anybody else have any comments on the topic?

What you write will determine whether or not it’s cliché. But it won’t be the only essay on that type of topic that the adcoms read.
