Cliche what schools did you turn down in favor of Purdue thread

For me, Purdue was always my number 1, I respectfully turned down:

U Vermont
U Minnesota
Michigan State
Penn State (In state, long story)
U Pittsburgh
and a few others that don't really matter...

What about you?!

I turned down a full ride in state school, and UC San diego.

University of Toronto

-Indiana U (full ride)
-U of Illinois Urbana Champaign
-U of Michigan Ann Arbor

i’m just curious icecube… what prompted to you turn down a full ride and admission to two other sweet schools?

for UIUC and UM i cant comment but he obviously knew that IU SUCKS

My daughter turned down:

UC Berkley

Drexel

Colorado School of Mines

UCSD

Cal Poly

^ are you serious !? purdue over UCB ??

Very Serious-

Her life= Her decision

I think part of it was her best friend is going to UCB and they are to competitive with each other.

My daughter is very happy and Purdue is top-notch for Engineering which is her major.

She went to a Purdue event in SOCAL a couple of weeks ago, and came away very impressed with the traditions and the alumni that were there.

It is my view that she had a lot of great choices and that she chose well.

Purdue is ranked higher than Berkeley for certain types of engineering including Aerospace, Agriculture, and Industrial, there are probably more that I do not know about. Berkeley liberal atmosphere is a turn off for a great number of students.

i turned down purdue and cooper union for minnesota

^That was not the question.
Also I can’t believe I forgot putting VA Tech down on mine, it was Purdue’s main competitor.

Michigan State
University of Nevada - Las Vegas

Georgia Tech
Virginia Tech
Penn State University Park
University of Maryland-College Park
Syracuse
WPI
Rensselaer
UMass Amherst

I first applied to IU with the idea of pre-med, but then I changed to Engineering. Obviously, IU isn’t an engineering school, so I had to turn it down. UIUC and UM were both at the +40k area, unlike Purdue which was $22k.

turned down purdue, uiuc, dayton, and ohio u for ohio state

^ once again, read the title before replying

Wow some one turned down Berk and SD? If this is a CA person, you must have really loved Purdue.

sorry…reading was my lowest score on the act

University of Texas at Austin
Virginia Tech
Penn State
Rutgers
UMD
