<p>For the last two, it's really a lot like coaching a few less experienced students. </p>

<p>Definitley dont listen to the post above, I think you would be a very strong canidate for Columbia. Your ECs are good and your stats are great. Really work on your essay, because Columbia-like all Ivies- is very unpredictable. GOOD LUCK!</p>

<p>You seem pretty well-rounded, but nothing seems to really stand out. You’re lacking a bit in awards too :frowning: You definitely have a shot, but it’ll probably be a reach for you.</p>

<p>It’s always a crapshoot, make sure you have good essays and good recs. I think you could be in the ballpark. Play up your leadership, maybe? </p>

<p>Contrary to what someone else said, though, I don’t think awards are that big of a deal (mine were similar to yours, and I’m a '16 ED admit). I think they understand that depending on your interests/time/ECs there are fewer opportunities for awards… certainly true if you’re a history/polisci type of person who does mostly local clubs.</p>

<p>I have a smorgasbord of Conference and Sectional/Regional (in-state, part of state series) awards for Tennis and Forensics, but I figured only the major ones would matter.</p>

<p>I would stay away from including sports awards that aren’t a) state or higher titles or b) are some kind of testament to your leadership/dedication (like a special coach’s award or something), but some of the larger Forensics awards might be good to mention. You do have limited space, though, so pick carefully. When in doubt, pick the one that needs the least explanation, imo.</p>

<p>I’m still waiting for my cake… otherwise I’ll have to resort to years-old video game references.</p>

<p>I got lucky enough to get accepted to Columbia with lower stats than you. I know someone that got rejected with a higher ACT and class rank than you. Admissions is a crapshoot, so chance threads are pointless even though I know you won’t heed my advice.</p>

<p>Hmm, I got into CC this year and I had extremely strong recs and essays. You definitely have to build relationships with both your teachers and counselors. You should build up on summer activities and work experience too. Other than that, your academic stats are quite strong. Maybe a couple more volunteering gigs too :D</p>

<p>And…college is really quite random sometimes so don’t worry!</p>
