**Essays: **A Metaphorical Essay on Why I want to Attend Carnegie Mellon, For The Common App- I did the first essay option where it asks about moral and ethical issues, and i chose to talk about the challenges of owning and operating a parapsychological site/organization, and an extra essay about my dreams.
Teacher Recommendation: Eco Teacher: Wonderful Recommendation, Physics Teacher: Not so good.
Counselor Rec: Wonderful, I know my guidance counselor on a friendly basis. I was taken out to eat by her when I got into Carnegie Mellon because i go to an underperforming school.
Additional Rec: College Art Professor- Decent.
Interview: Yes- By an Adcom. I was told my scores were abit low. I was honest about where I stood, didnt give excuses. I was asked to retake them. I took them, and the above scores are superscored. I think it went well. I told them that I didnt think that the physics scores would be raising much. I retook it and went from a 520 to a 550. She asked me to mail in some extra stuff, and seemed really polite on the whole. She wrote a bunch of stuff down for my answer for the what am I looking for in a college question, which I had previously prepared to answer. There was one question it took me awhile to answer, which was, how could I contribute to the Carnegie Mellon community. I asked her a few questions. I asked her what is the thing she likes LEAST about the school. That got her attention. I make informed decisions not blind ones. My app was not yet submitted when I had the interview. For the record, she said the parking.
Other
State (if domestic applicant): PA
Country (if international applicant): USA
School Type: Title 1, Underperforming, Rural
Ethnicity: White
Gender: Female
Income Bracket: Low Income. My ED financial aid estimate form indicated that everything is being taken care of via loan, work study and grant money besides the dorms.
**Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): **No.</p>

<p>Reflection
Strengths: Dual Enrollment, ECs not school related, essays, location.
**Weaknesses: **Scores, I also had an 80% in an AP Bio class as an average.
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: My essay was very out of the ordinary/ not a standard answer to the question. Supposedly im finding out through 3rd hand sources that CMU called about this essay, but Im not holding my breath, having an interview with an adcom, Not your average EC stuff ( I sent in an activities resume as per request of the adcom, which had things in it like making my own Linux distro, punk jacket (ex: <a href=“http://i138.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/albums/q269/sayspo/CRIM0019.jpg[/url]”>http://i138.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/albums/q269/sayspo/CRIM0019.jpg&lt;/a&gt; , pictures included, getting a job to build my own computer. I related each one back to a volunteer activity I do that is non-traditional or non-school related.

<p>I didn’t put my 560 in SAT II Lit up :stuck_out_tongue: it’s my dirty little secret lol</p>

<p>CFA (School of Architecture)</p>

<p>Objective:[ul]
[<em>] SAT I (breakdown): 770 CR/730 M/740 W (2240)
[</em>] SAT II: 750 Math II/700 French/horrible Physics (I had only taken 1 tri of Physics when I took the test and needed a science SAT II…also my Chemistry class didn’t teach me anything. It was a bad situation…)

[</em>] Teacher Recommendation: I would guess it is good, from a teacher I’ve had for 3 years and I know that she likes me…
[<em>] Counselor Rec: Probably okay although I don’t think my counselor even really knows me (5 counselors for a school of roughly 1900…)
[</em>] Interview: Had an on-campus interview last June, I am terrible at interviews so it was probably bad
[/ul]Other[ul]
[<em>] State (if domestic applicant): Iowa
[</em>] School Type: Large public high school, one of the best schools in the state, highest number of NMFs and AP Scholars by a huge margin
[<em>] Ethnicity: White
[</em>] Gender: Male
[<em>] Income Bracket: roughly 100K? (Enough so that we won’t qualify for a ton of aid but not enough to be able to afford going, most likely)
[</em>] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Nope.<br>
[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[<em>] Strengths: Well I think my SAT I scores are good enough…
[</em>] Weaknesses: Not many ECs, horrible awful Physics SAT II, interview, etc.
[/ul]General Comments: CMU is my first choice but I doubt I will even be accepted, and if I am, I doubt I’ll be able to pay for it. I will probably end up going in-state :(</p>
