[<em>] Job/Work Experience: typical student restaurant jobs
[</em>] Volunteer/Community service: lots of hours tutoring underprivileged kids

<p>[ b]Objective:[ /b][ list]
SAT I (breakdown): 750 CR, 680 M (fail), 720 W
ACT: 32
SAT II: US history: 730, Math II 680, Literature 790
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.7 i think (ive only been given my waited GPA, which is 4.4 and went up after Mid-Year Reports)
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 1/270 (with multiple people tied at #1)
AP (place score in parenthesis): US history (5), US government, not comparitive (5), AP European History (5), AP Geography (5), AP Language & Composition (5), AP MacroEcon (2) (it was a fail, i had two weeks of class) im also one of the national ap scholarish things. whatever they are for seniors.
IB (place score in parenthesis): IB Geography (5) IB Philosophy (5) all standard level
Senior Year Course Load: AP Physics C, AP/IB Psychology, AP/IB German, IB History of the Americas, AP/IB Literature & Composition, AP/IB Calculus BC, AP/IB Biology, IB Theory of Knowledge
Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): won lots for science fair since sophomore year, no internationals, but i went to the national JSHS, Also I'm a National Merit Finalist, and won that AP Score award, but i can never remember what its called
Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: i havent heard yet =( but i got into Tulane (24,000 a year), Rochester (22,000 a year for NMF), Macalester, and Birmingham Southern College (full tuition & room & board)
[ b]General Comments:[ /b] My school is sort of ridiculous and most colleges know about it, hence the low-ish GPA, but I got all A's first semester senior year =)
[ b]Subjective:[ /b] yeah.... not really sure what to put here
Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Math Team, Unity Club (founder & president), Invisible children (president), Beta club, played the sax for 6 years, and then the stuff everyone has (NHS, mu alpha theta, etc.)
Job/Work Experience: worked at ben & jerry's for a summer. it sorta sucked.
Volunteer/Community service: volunteered at pretty prestigious law firm for 6 months, have volunteered at the Greater Birmingham Human Society for a year, volunteered at the birmingham zoo for around 5 years
Summer Activities: Science camps (unless you live in alabama you probably wouldnt know what they are), Duke TiP for 2 years (hopefully this helps), People to People (went to the British Isles), Anytown (an NCCJ camp)
Essays: it was pretty personal, but i could see how it might be generic. it was about how i basically went from being a complete pessimist to believing that people could really be good (thanks to anytown). if they believe it, it would be pretty good. and i hope they believe it because it was all true
Teacher Recommendation: hopefull good, i got one teacher who adores me, one who im pretty good friends with and is the sponsor of the club i started and the club im president of
Counselor Rec: my counselor/principal hates me but she wouldnt write anything bad and would probably exaggerate all of the good just because she wants her best students to get into the best colleges, so probably pretty good
Additional Rec: i used another teacher (i already talked about her, she knows me more for my community service)
Interview: i thought it went pretty well, we talked for about an hour and when he emailed me he said to expect to talk for about 30 minutes
[ /list][ b]Other[ /b][ list]
State: Sweet Home Alabama
Country (if international applicant):
School Type: an AP/IB school. we were ranked #1 in the country a few years ago by newsweek, then dropped to second, then to fourth, and now we're listed as a "public elite school" meaning our average ACT scores are too good and they wont rank us. we do a science fair every year, its really difficult to get a's at my school (a girl had to leave because she was failing algebra and she left and continued taking algebra and got a 108) and colleges claim they know that, but its been my experience that they dont
Ethnicity: white, german, pretty generic =(
Gender: female & proud of it
Income Bracket: upper middle class
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): so fail, i dont really have a lot. except that ive done a lot for diversity and started a club specifically for this purpose
[ /list][ b]Reflection[ /b][ list]
[ *] Strengths: community involvement, gpa if they know what my school is like, science fair awards, national merit finalist (i think?)
[ *] Weaknesses: possibly my recs, if my counselors wasnt good, test scores
[ *] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: no idea.
[ /list][ b]General Comments:[ /b] i love duke, and i also think i was up for robertson, but didnt get the call. but im not sure if i was. my teacher said she recommended me, but im not sure if she did, i missed the interview for it at my school and she only told me she'd nominated me after the application stuff was due, which was a fail.</p>

<p>CC is a cesspool of self-deprecation, so much so I often wonder if people TRULY think they are failures or simply so people jump to say "OMG noes you're liek totally amazing!i!1"</p>

<p>I agree. </p>

<p>Especially since jocool proceeded to place "fail" adjacent to his math score of 680.</p>
